Here is Post #7 on Winning:

Putting it All Together

So, "how" do you win baseball games?  It is not luck.  Over the long-term, you win by:

  1. Winning 3 innings
  2. Controlling Walks + Errors to 5 or less
  3. Putting up 15 Quality At Bats

Focusing on these factors teaches players to:

  • Play one inning, one at-bat at a time.
  • Relentlessly compete despite mistakes or bad luck or bad calls or dozens of things that might go wrong ....
  • Focus on fundamentals and playing the game right, with discipline and character

This path to winning games teaches young men important lessons about how to succeed more broadly.  And, it is a lot more rewarding than just recruiting players that are 1-2 years more physically mature from their peers.

Thank you,
