15u-17u Gamers & Parents,

This email provides some more travel information about this summer.

There are basically two types of out of town trips in the Gamers program:

1. Bus trips => parents do not need to attend at all.  We get a very safe, large bus to transport the players and they stay together in team hotel.  We do bus trips for 2 reasons:

  • To provide a break for parents from the time demands of summer baseball travel
  • It is lower cost than the parents taking the players
  • Each age group has 2 bus trips planned
We are still figuring out the cost of the bus trips for this coming summer.  In the past, it has been $275-$300 per player per trip to cover the cost of the bus and the hotel. The bus trip cost is in ADDITION to the Gamers program fees and will be due in late May.  (Note: Travel costs are not included in the Gamers fees).

2. Non-bus trips => where the parents are responsible for transportation and hotel accommodations.  Most of the trips are in this category.  On these trips, parents/players can manage it two different ways:
  • Parent drives the player and stays in the team hotel with the player.
  • The player rides down with another parent or coach, and stays a "team room" with other players in the same situation.  The "team room" has a cost of $50 per night which must be paid in advance.
The "team room" approach is the lowest overall travel cost approach.  Most families do a combination of Parent trips and "team room" trips.

We have two important rules on out-of-town travel:
  • Players are not allowed to drive themselves (i.e. without parents)
  • Players/parents are required to stay in the team hotel.  This is a requirement of most tournaments.

If you have questions, please let me know.

Thanks again for being part of the Gamers program.
