Hi,

Our biggest program-wide fundraiser is the Gamers Media Guide.   The basic concept is simple -- players/parents sell ads for the Media Guide.  This year, 75% ad sales will be refunded to you to offset program fees.  25% of ad sales go to production costs of the Media Guide (which keep getting higher every year).

You have until March 30th to sell ads and provide checks and ad copy.

You can get a great idea about the types of businesses that advertise in the Media Guide by looking through the 2012 Media Guide.

Our experience with the Media Guide is as follows:

About 30% of the players/parents sell ads
Those that sell ads receive an average credit of $320

At least 1 out of 5 businesses that you give the information packet to will say yes.  So, if you want to sell 5 ads, all you need to do is pitch the idea to 25 local businesses.

This is 100% optional, but is a great way to offset program costs, especially if you have some control over a small business/non-profit advertising budget.

If you need a copy of the 2012 Media Guide to help with your sales process, there are always free copies available in the ASP Lobby.

Questions that are often asked about the Media Guide are:

- How many copies are printed and distributed?  It depends on ad sales, but has been roughly 1000 in recent years.

- How are the Media Guides distributed?  They are distributed to over 200 Gamer families, at hosted tournaments at Lindenwood, Mizzou and SLU, and at USA Baseball events run by the Gamers.

- The demographic is baseball families with kids 10-18 years old.  This is a great demographic for almost any retail or service business.

- The media guide will be printed and distributed in May.
