================================================================
Hi,

Speed and arm strength are core building blocks for baseball.  No one will ever tell you that you run too fast or throw too hard.

Being exceptional in one or the other (or both) will get you lots of opportunities.  At the same time, being below average in speed and/or arm strength can limit your chances.

The good news is that you CAN improve both.

We have a great arm strength program built into the Winter Practice sessions.  If you do it right, 3-6 mph improvement can be expected.  This improvement comes from very specific throwing drills, combined with an ongoing lifting program. We have had a number of kids add 10-15 mph in velocity over three winters.

Athletes Edge trainers have agreed to offer that same time of specific training for Gamers players that need to get faster.   These training sessions will cost $150, and will be at the following times:

16u players - Saturdays, 9-9:45m - BEFORE practice
15u players - Saturdays, 4:15-5pm - AFTER practice and Athletes Edge training
14u players - Saturdays, 6:10-6:55 - AFTER practice and Athletes Edge training

Class size is limited to just 10 players at each age group. To register and pay, please click on the following link:

The focus will be on technical aspects of running mechanics and working with specific improvement areas for each player.  It will not be physically demanding training, more on mechanics and form -- similar to our throwing program.

Who should participate in this training?  Easy to answer -- if running speed is going to be an asset for you at the next level, then your speed needs to be exceptional.  If running speed is going to be a liability to you at the next level, then you need to get your speed to at least average.

Here is the path you need to be on to play as a position player in college:

17u outfielders -- 4.85 average time (exceptional)
17u all position players  -- 5.03 average time

When I look at the 14, 15 and 16u testing results, all players EXCEPT the following should consider speed training:

16u - Martinez, Cooper, Haring, South, Gordely, Freeman, Krippene

15u - Miller, Vuylsteke, Colley, Purcell, Morris, Mobley, St. John, Knernschield

14u - Hegeman, Kelly

If you are below average speed for your age group, would should definitely consider speed training.

Thanks again for being a part of the Gamers program!
