Dear Friends, Brothers and Ladies of the O.E.S,
"Ti's a New Year" and a new beginning in even more than one way, and with a new year comes new challenges, though along with that new opportunities. Opportunities to grow and opportunities to make new friends and support those who are close to us.
First once again I give my most heart felt thanks to those who helped me along the way to Worshipful Master. Without it, it may have never happened. With that said, I feel it to be of the utmost importance we start off on the right foot.
A perfect example of how to do that will be with what's coming soon. February 9th at Winter Park Lodge there will be a District MLT (Masonic Leadership Training) course which I encourage many to attend. Not only does this serve as a good reminder of the duty's of any current officer, or anyone intending to get in "The Line" as a future officer. This will also be a great opportunity to "meet and greet" the other officers from other lodges. I personally can say that great insight and advice can be found at these events. Though not only for that, its a good time to get out of your own lodge and see another. Truly, only then does one, especially a newer Brother, get a stronger sense and perspective of what it is to be a Mason and the organization which he joined.
As Masons we hold ourselves to a certain standard and to encourage and support not just our lodge but other lodges is one of those standards. This, of course is a foreshadowing of what you can expect this year and what is to come my Brothers, so put your boots on, we're traveling.

Brethren,
As Senior Warden this year, I am also the chair of two standing committees that are required, by Grand Lodge, for all Lodges to have: Masonic Education and Finance. I intend to take a very active role as the head of these committees.
As I stressed last year, it is very important, especially for those Brothers who currently are, or intend to be, in the Officer's Line, that we all educate ourselves in the Digest of Masonic Law. This will make each member of the Lodge more knowledgeable in procedures and the manner in which the Lodge should conduct its business. We should also take advantage of Leadership Training whenever it is offered. This will help cultivate better leaders for our Lodge as we continue to build on the successes of the recent past. Both of these help the Lodge earn points and show that our Lodge is an active and vibrant Lodge within the Grand Lodge, in general, and within our Zone and District, specifically. As has been said before, an educated Mason is a dedicated Mason.
We have an opportunity this month to take advantage of a dual Zone and District Masonic Leadership Training class. It is being offered at Winter Park Lodge on February 9th from 9 am-12 noon. Breakfast will be available from 8-9 and lunch will also be available after the session. It is very important that the three primary elected officers and the Deacons on the Lodge attend this training as we can satisfy requirements for Masonic Education by having those 5 officers attend. All Brothers are welcome to attend and we get points for those attending as well.
I would also encourage those newer Masons to attend the District School of Instruction on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month. This month's sessions will be at Mokanna Lodge. It is a great way to work with other members of the District and improve your knowledge of our Work.
We will also be continuing our Master Mason Exams and Lodge Officer Training nights this year (look for an opportunity for this in March).
Next month, I will discuss what the Finance Committee will be doing this year, in conjunction with the Treasurer, to bring our lodge finances into the 21st century and more closely align our practices with Grand Lodge.
Fraternally,

Greetings Brothers,
I want to start off by saying thank you to everyone that showed up for the first breakfast of the year. We had a great turnout with an overflowing amount of help. I want to personally thank my Stewards and Bro SW John Miles for all the help in the kitchen. I also want to take a moment to remind everyone about the barbecue coming up in March. I will have an exact day by the first meeting in February.
Travel Lightly Brothers,

Food for thought: "Yesterday is History, Tomorrow is The Future, And Today is: Yes today is a Gift, that is why We Call it The Present. May all your dealings today and Tomorrow be with the Blessing of your GOD.
