Brothers,

October is upon us and with it some "cooler" weather.  The next few months always seem to be the busiest for me with all of the holidays and events going on.

As the weather cools off I would like to see us get some of the "outside work" completed at the Lodge. We managed to get the covering over the BBQ smoker removed and hauled away. Thanks to the brothers that put in the time and effort to get that taken care of during the work call. We now anxiously await the arrival of Bro. Andy!

Despite the warm weather and the fact that there was no air in Pegram Hall, we had a fantastic turn out for the Past Masters Dinner last month. Our Junior Warden prepared a spectacular steak dinner. It was nice to see so many past masters get together and catch up not only with each other but with the brothers and events of the lodge. I am sure they will be pleased to hear that the air is once again working in Pegram Hall.

The food handler certification course that was held at the lodge was a huge success. We had 49 people from around the district take the class.  This certification is the first step in becoming compliant with both Grand Lodge as well as the Dept. of Agriculture which will allow us to solicit the public to participate in our events. My thanks to Bro. Souza for conducting the class. We are continuing on our quest to invite the public into our events and hope to have our State Certificate in the near future.

Our Junior Warden held the Master Mason exam night which was attended by 11 brothers.  All three exams (MM I, II, and III) were taken at some point during the evening. It was a fun and educational night and even prompted some "masonic education" at our last stated communication. There are plans for more classes as you will read in the Junior Wardens message.

In preparation for next year, our Stated Communication on October 17th will be a "step up" night. All officers (and anyone that is desirous of becoming an officer) should be prepared to advance to the next highest seat. This means learning the ritual and floor work for that station. This will give you an idea of what next year will be like.

October 27th will see us host our 4th annual community halloween party! This event has grown each year (we had 40 kids last year) and this year we hope to have more. This is our chance to show the community what we as masons do. This event is open to the public with children ages 10 and under. This year our Rainbow Girls are going to be there for support. I would love to see as many brothers and their families there as possible. Its always a fun night with games, music and candy. As always, donations of toys and candy would be appreciated but money will be accepted as well. You can use the "donate" button to the left if you would like to help.

In November we are planning a Rummage/Craft/Bake sale. Start getting your items together for this event. The rummage sale will be outside and the craft/bake sale will be inside. More details will be made available in November but I wanted to get the word out for those "crafty" people.

The next series set of classes in the Masonic Leadership Training will be held on October 29th at Mokanna. All current officers and ANYONE interested in going through the line should make every attempt to attend these classes. W:. Rich Wirth, Jr. is doing a fantastic job with these classes and those of us that attend are gaining some great insight and knowledge of how to keep our lodges moving in a positive direction.

And, last but by no means least, you will notice that this months Rainbow article was written by one of our own Rainbow girls, Lindsey, who originally wrote the article to be published in the Rainbow Express which is the monthly publication for the International Order for Rainbow Girls. Lindsey shows great talent in writing and I have asked her to write each months Rainbow article for your enjoyment. Lindsey is very excited and is looking forward to next months issue. I have also asked the Rainbow Assembly to take charge of our Food Drive. One of their service projects is Second Harvest Food Bank and I thought this would be an excellent way for them to get started.

I look forward to seeing you all at the lodge and, as always, if you have any questions, comments or suggestions please don't hesitate to let me know. You can reply to this email.

Junior Warden
Brothers,

This month we will be having our final Barbeque of the year.  We will be having our traditional menu of Pork, Chicken, beans, coleslaw rolls and those wonderful desserts prepared by the wives of our brethren.  The barbeque will be October 20th from 12:00 pm -5:00 pm.  Your tickets will be mailed shortly.  Come on out, see some old friends and brothers, enjoy the fellowship and support your lodge with your donations.  Sign up sheet for work shifts during the event will be posted in Pegram Hall.  Thanks for your support of this event

We will be having a Lodge Officers Training class this month on October 20th at 7:00 pm at the Lodge.  This session will cover LOTC Module 1.  For those who have completed Master Mason I, II and III, this is the next step toward getting your Purple proficiency card completed.  You DO NOT have to have completed those exams to take this exam.  Anyone interested in getting in line as an officer should strongly consider taking this class/test as it will give you a good understanding of the roles each officer has in the Lodge.  I look forward to seeing you all at Lodge for this event.

Menu for this month will be:  October  3rd - Meatball Subs and French Fries with salad;  October 17th - Chili w/corn chips.  As always, we will have dessert after the meetings.

Fraternally,

Rainbow Assembly #6

Hello radiant, Rainbow readers!

It is Lindsey from Pine Castle Assembly #6 to inform you about our Initiation/Installation of our delightful Pledge group, latest service projects, and fun since our lovely Florida Grand Assembly!

Having a Pledge Group was the first for our extraordinary Assembly. We are all very excited to teach and prepare our little sisters. Being in a Pledge group really prepares them and I feel that they will be confident when they become Rainbow Girls. It was really nice to see their excited faces, eager to be initiated and installed as Pledges. Only being eight years old, they will soon learn the ways of Rainbow Girls quickly. They are fortunate to have a head start learning the dedication, responsibility, and hard-work needed for Rainbow and we are fortunate to have them.

Planning and scheduling a Service Project is one thing, but actually going and physically doing it is something else entirely. Our awesome Worthy Advisor, Brittani, had just the project in mind. We visited a nursing home for children who need indefinite placement and special care. We read books to some children and visited others. It was such an eye-opening experience for me and one I will not soon forget. Our visit was a tremendous success with 100% participation from the Assembly. When the fun finally came to an end, we had to reluctantly say good-bye and make our way to our next and final destination of the day.

Walking into the building, we got our shoes and tied them to go bowling! Being my third time bowling, I knew the drill, but I was looking forward to watching my friend Chloe, who had never bowled before, give it a shot. As always, she caught on quickly. We all laughed and enjoyed our cheesy hot pizza while we played. Tatiana almost got a strike so many times, "I think this is rigged, they probably glued the pins onto the floor!" became a common phrase.

We all giggled and joked, but what really mattered was that we set aside a small part of our day to brighten the lives of kids who so desperately need it and had fun in the process. It was such a great experience and is at the core of what makes Rainbow the terrific organization that it is. We are all looking forward to our next Service Project very soon!

In Rainbow Love and Service,
Lindsey
