Brothers,

August is shaping up to be a very busy month. We are confering a master mason degree on the 15th and hosting Masonic Leadership Training on the 29th. Check out the calendar to keep up with all the exciting events.

We are still working on hosting some "non-food" related fundraisers such as allowing the boaters to park in our "front yard" on weekends, holding a rummage/craft sale, and other such things. If you have ANY ideas please let us know. We need to have some fund raising ideas in place along with our usual bbq's.  And, speaking of bbq's, we are working on our State Certifications. If you are interested in helping your lodge at any bbq's or other food related events (like spaghetti dinners) please contact us so that we can get you on the list for certification classes. Dates for these classes will be announced soon.

That's all from East for this Month. I am going to let the Senior and Junior Wardens have the rest of this Trestle Board.

See you on the 15th!!

Where have all the Brothers gone?

I must express something that I have noticed over the past few years. Attendance at our meetings has dropped...significantly, "our" work calls consists of the same 4 or 5 brothers and lately the helping hand has never seemed so short. If you believe that your lodge does not need you, and that it is doing well without you, then let me be the one too say, that you are Wrong.

A building is only as strong as its foundation and a lodge by the support of its brothers. I have seen brothers come and go in the short time that I've been with the lodge and I must say that as a young Mason it saddens me to see this. Is this the example that I am supposed to learn? that once I got a ring, my job was done. Or once my year has finished my time was through?

If your reason for not coming is because you where wronged by another brother, then again let me be the one too apologize. If you have lost your reason for coming, then I urge you to find another. Yet if you simply have not made time, then you need to "make" time, just as the brothers who helped you become a Mason "made" time.

If you feel that I may be speaking too you, then I probably am. What can you do? Attend the work calls, come to meetings, "go to lodge". For if not, I fear that soon their will not be a lodge to go too.

Respectfully Yours,
Michael L. Diaz, Senior Warden

Brothers,

Two areas of focus that need to be pursued with renewed interest in our Lodge, particularly with the newer brothers, are Masonic Education and Leadership Training.  Last year we began having Master Mason Exam nights at the Lodge not only as a way of encouraging new members to learn about the Digest of Masonic Law but also as a way to promote teamwork and to help the Lodge in obtaining Masonic Education points.  Up to this point this year, we have not been spending much time in this area.  That is about to change.

On Wednesday, August 29th, Pine Castle will be hosting a District Masonic Leadership session from 7:00-9:00 pm.  There will be additional sessions, with different topics presented, at Winter Park and Mokanna Lodges in September and October.  Any members wanting to get in the line of Officers, or those just interested in getting more information about Masonry, should plan to attend these sessions.  It will be time well spent.

In addition, we will be having a Master Mason III exam night in September (more information on that in the next Trestle Board).  I would also like to have a session on a Saturday in the fall on Lodge Officers Training so that we can get some more Purple Proficiency Cardholders in the Lodge.

On a personal note, I am very interested in attending a Masonic History seminar at Boynton Lodge in Boynton Beach on September 8th.  I would like to know if there is any interest in a group from Pine Castle going down for the seminar.

We will be having a Master Mason degree on August 15th as part of our Stated Communication.  We have not settled on the menu for that night yet but please plan to attend and help use raise these five Fellowcrafts to the sublime degree of Master Mason:  David Sousa, Carlos Parra, Rene Torres, Angel Luis Vale and Marcelino Santiago.  They have all been working hard and it will be great to see them become active members of our Lodge!

Fraternally,
