We're off to a great start this year! As you'll read below, the MMRL dinner was a hit and the first work call was well attended. We now have a new closet in the prep room for storing our ritual clothing and gear as well as providing a much needed changing room for our Rainbow girls. The library is also taking shape. We removed several truck loads of "stuff" from the room, removed the carpet and replaced it with new flooring. The next step will be repairing the cracks in the walls and painting.

Library before & after

We have 3 events this month that are worth mentioning. The first is the Rainbow Girls Installation on Feb. 5th. The second is our widows luncheon on Feb. 11th. We will be having salad, soup & sandwiches. Everyone is invited to attend. The third event is the Mystery Dinner hosted by our Rainbow Girls on Feb. 18th. I would like you to make an extra effort to attend the rainbow installation as well as the mystery dinner. We chose to host a Rainbow Assembly in our Lodge. We chose to support them. While giving them a donation now and again is great, they also need to see us at their events and meetings. There are many things these ladies can be doing with their free time and they CHOOSE to be part of the Rainbow. Some of them travel an hour or more for each meeting. What a great way to show parents and potential brothers what great men Masons are and the great work we do! I have made the commitment to be at EVERY meeting and event they have this year to the best of my ability. I would love to see some of you there as well.

I hope to have the 2012 budget ready to be voted on and approved by  the second meeting of this month. Copies will be available for review before the meeting. Please join us for dinner before each meeting. Hope to see you soon.

From the South
John Miles, Senior DeaconThanks to all of the brothers and ladies who helped out with the dinner for our first meeting of the year, the fundraising dinner for the MMRL. We had a great turnout (approximately 60 people attended from across the District) and we received lots of positive feedback from the attendees regarding the program and the meal. And, we raised $118 for the MMRL.  And, thanks, also, to the wives of the officers and Past Masters, and the Worthy Matron of the OES, who prepared a great meal for the Master Mason Degree in January.

Our first Family Breakfast for the year was very well attended as well; we had over 40 people come out to sample our new menu items of Belgian Waffles and our Omelet bar. Breakfast is the 4th Saturday of every month. Put it on your calendar and make it a habit to come down to the Lodge and reconnect with the Brothers and their families.

The work call in January was very successful. We cleaned out the Library and cleaned and reorganized the kitchen as well as trimmed the oak trees.  The Lodge building is getting back into shape little by little. I'd like to have another work call on February 25th immediately following the Family Breakfast to strip and wax the floors in Pegram Hall and to split the wood in preparation for the Bar-be-que.  I am buying lunch that day for those who come out and work.

For this month's Stated Communications, dinner will be Sloppy Joes and French Fries for the meeting on February 1 and Bavarian Noodles (a Kielbasa Casserole with egg noodles and green beans).  We will be having dessert after the meeting.  Don't forget to join the 6:30 Degree program to save yourself some money on dinners this year.  And dinners are open to families but please let me know if you are bringing your family with you so that I can properly plan for the number of people.

Rainbow Assembly #6
Rainbow Mystery Dinner We hope to see you all at our installation on February 5 at 4PM. On February 18, we will have a mystery dinner at 6PM.  The tickets are only $10.00 and will be available at the installation.  This is a fundraising project for the Assembly . The theme will be the 50's sock hop....how many of you remember that era?  So come out, wear 50's clothing if you want, have a good meal and bring your sense of humor...we will have a lot of fun!
