Worshipful Master
Brothers....

We lost our Jr. Past Master to cancer this past month. The shock of his passing was felt throughout the 17th. Masonic District. Worshipful Garavano's funeral was well attended with over 60 brothers and as many guest and family members. This was a fitting tribute to his fellowship throughout the district. Without David, Pine Castle Lodge will be a very different place. Our continued thoughts and prayers go out to his Mother and Family. A special "thanks" to the brother's wives and Eastern Star ladies for the wonderful reception after the services. When I arrived, Pegram Hall was full and everyone was well taken care of.

The family of the Right Honorable Jerry Blum made a very kind donation to the Masonic Home in Jerry's name. For those of you who had the privilege of knowing Jerry Blum saw first hand the contributions he made to masonry and to Pine Castle in particular. Just prior to his recent passing he took me aside and told me that it required three qualities to be a proper master of a Masonic lodge. They were Humility, Dignity and Respect. Very wise advice that I will do my best to follow. His family very kindly collected his files on the history of the lodge which I picked up recently and these papers will be safely stored in our lodge library. R.H. Jerry's notes document a very interesting history of how Pine Castle Lodge first came to be. I was very fortunate to know him for the short time we were acquainted.

Our "Bring a Can to Lodge" program is just about ready to go. Just bring a can of vegetables or fruit when you come to lodge and drop it into the "Big Can" at the entry foyer. If you did not bring a can then you can drop a couple of quarters into the "Buy a Can" coin receptacle and take one off of the stack. Either way, when the "Big Can" is filled it will be delivered to the Second Harvest center to help feed those less fortunate than ourselves. This is a great way to get involved in the community and put Masonry in the minds of the public.

To our "Wayfaring Brothers"...Once again, please stay in touch and let me know where to send your lodge pins. The cost of our latest purchase of pins was very generously "taken care of" by WM Garavano and our Jr. Warden Bro. Art Johnson. I know that David would want you to have one. Thanks for your help on this Art.

The Rainbow Girls had their officer's installation and I was so very impressed. The "dance night" at the lodge was a great success. If I had a daughter I would definitely want her to be associated with the Rainbow. It surprises me how many women I meet in my business transactions who were once Rainbow Girls. I've very pleased to assist them in any way I can and encourage the brothers to do the same.

Brothers, please keep an eye on this month's calendar. We have a lot of important dates coming up. There will be an E.A. degree on the 11th. A visit to the Masonic Home is being arranged for the 20th. Our BBQ is coming up on the 13th. of this month. The Jr. Warden has everything prepared and we are looking forward to having a great time. See you there!

Brothers...the second meeting of the month is now being reserved for masonic education. The minimum of business will be delt with at this meeting and the remainder of time reserved for masonic discussion amoungst the brothers. If you cannot make a meeting, then try to stop by just for dinner at 6:30. We'd love to see you again.

My Brothers,

I am endeavoring to tally the Masonic Education points on a monthly basis so we may have an accurate as possible count. I will be attending as many events as I can to achieve the necessary points. We get points for visitation to other lodges, the school of instruction, lodge training activities, Grand Lodge etc. I will keep the brothers apprised of upcoming events so that you can join in.

My Brothers,

I want to thank all of you that have been attending our suppers prior to our Stated Communications & our breakfasts. Your attendance goes a long way in keeping our Lodge strong. Brother David Rohr, The Pine Castle Chef, and myself are working very hard to give our Brothers a good home cooked meal and an opportunity to enjoy the fellowship before the meetings.

The first BBQ of the year is just around the corner, Saturday March 13th. I am looking for assistance from the brothers in getting this BBQ together, and would like to see as many of our young Master Masons there so they can learn what goes into the preparations & successful completion of our main fund raiser. You are the future of this lodge. The welfare and prosperity of this lodge depends upon your involvement & leadership.

Don't forget the breakfast on March 27th. I am trying to make this a forth Saturday event every month so come on out to help our lodge remain strong now and into the future.

From the Secretary
Secretary's Jewel At the present time we have four Candidates for the EA degree that will be held on the 11th of March 2010. They are Messrs; Severo Riestra, Robert Allan Dziekan, Nicholas Glenn Cangro, and Angel Luis Camacho Martinez.

We also have four new petitions to be accepted; they are: Messrs; Richard McFadden, Anthony John Wynek, Samuel Christopher Hilliard and Jack Calo Jr.

My brothers if you haven't paid your dues for 2010 they are past due. I realize that times are pretty hard for most of our brothers but the same is true for your lodge, your dues, fund raisers and donations are what we have to keep the lodge going, there is already talk about raising our dues so we can survive, the annual cost of electricity and insurance alone are more than the return on our dues so please do your part and pay your obligated dues.

Yours in the Fraternity,

Burt Brim, PDDGM, Secretary

Dear Masonic brothers,

We are saddened and grieved by the loss of our dear Brother David Garavano. He was my Worthy Patron, and will be sorely missed by the members of the Star. Our hearts, and deepest sympathy go out to his family at this time of their great loss.

I will be leaving the East after the meeting on March first, and won't have another opportunity to address you, but the dear lady who is taking my place will be in touch from time to time.

Brothers, I can't begin to tell you how much you guys in the Blue Lodge mean to us. We would not even exist as a chapter if it were not for you. Food for thought, we work well together, and hopefully the Star has been beneficial to the Lodge. If you treasure us, as we do you and want to see us continue to grow and prosper, WE MUST have some new members in. The ones we have are faithful, and true, but as we so painfully learned by the passing of Brother David, none of us are going to live forever, and if you let us die off, with no one to fill our shoes the Pine Castle chapter will cease to exist........Won't you please consider joining us and help us keep the Star shining brightly in our little corner of Orlando?
