DID YOU KNOW? . . . Earth Day & Standards

April 22 marks the annual celebration of Earth Day, where more than a billion people from 190 countries take action on behalf of the environment, from planting trees and cleaning up their communities to organizing action groups and contacting elected officials. This year's global theme, Green Cities, will address issues like climate change, sustainable building and technology and public policy. Hundreds of ASTM International standards promote a healthy and sustainable environment, addressing topics across the board, such as sustainable buildings and construction, water quality, air quality, sustainable meetings and events, waste management, solar and alternative energy, environmental assessment, manufacturing, climate change, greenhouse gases and much more. For more on ASTM's current standards development work related to sustainability, visit www.astm.org/sn-environmental.
