New Online Water Portal
Standards play an important role in global water quality. To highlight this, a Water Portal has been launched at www.astm.org/waterportals. The portal provides a portfolio of ASTM standards related to water, and addresses the need for standards for water testing, transport, recycling and safety. It includes information and listings of water-related standards developed by a range of ASTM committees, including D18 on Soil and Rock, D19 on Water, D34 on Waste Management and more. Visitors can explore one of the five interest areas: environmental preservation, stewardship and sustainable use; testing and maintenance of water quality; extraction, transportation and infrastructure; water recapture, efficiency, reuse, recycling and sustainability; and consumer and industry water usage.

ASTM Amusement Safety Standards Accepted by Bolivian Government
Bolivian officials have announced the acceptance of amusement ride safety standards developed by ASTM International Committee F24 on Amusement Rides and Devices. The announcement was made at a seminar on amusement ride safety held in La Paz, Bolivia, in late August. F24 standards were used as the basis for new Bolivian standards that cover ownership, operation, maintenance, inspection and testing performance for amusement rides and devices. The incorporation of ASTM standards by IBNORCA, the national standards body of Bolivia, was made possible through a memorandum of understanding signed by the two organizations in 2002. ASTM worked closely with IBNORCA to facilitate review of the official Spanish translations of the F24 standards. [Full Story]
