GLOBAL NOTES . . . ASTM Around the World

ASTM Welcomes Attached Staff from Korea

KATS is the national standards body of Korea; ASTM and KATS signed an MOU in 2006. Chang's research during her nine-month stay will focus on ASTM procedures and tools and the public/private partnership in standards development in the U.S. She will work closely with several ASTM technical committees and attend meetings; visit related government agencies; make site visits to companies utilizing the standards; and assist with planning of the 2014 Board of Directors meeting that will take place in Seoul, Korea.

DID YOU KNOW? . . . Asset Management

ASTM International Committee E53 has a new name. The former Property Management Systems Committee has been renamed E53 on Asset Management. Along with the name change comes an updated scope - "the development, maintenance and dissemination of standard practices and performance standards for asset management systems and the lifecycle management of personal property assets." Formed in 2000, the committee includes property professionals from all entities, including commercial, non-profit, education, and federal, state and local governments, and often collaborates with the National Property Management Association (NPMA). Over 200 members from more than 50 national and international companies are represented in the membership of E53, which includes subcommittees on process management, data management, financial management, reutilization and disposal, and sustainable property management.
