Make Your Own Shopping Bags!

In December of 2008 I made a conviction to never again use plastic shopping bags especially from the grocery store. To that end I began to use old blue jeans to create a shopping bag that would not only hold up well, even if the load was heavy, but would be completely washable.
The first 30 I made were strictly made from old blue jeans and decorated with pockets from the jeans and from recycled children's jeans. I eventually moved on to the underlining them with cotton fabric remnants from my stash and decorating with appliques (seen above).

As with most projects I make, this idea became a pattern. Not just another pattern but our best selling pattern to date. You can get one on sale now thru the end of April.
