Teacher Spotlight

Linda McGehee's style is easy and fun with a flair for detail. She likes to work with a basic design, generally a garment or handbag, and make several that look entirely different using a variety of thread embellishments, piecing, or embroidery ideas. She uses the tools that make the tasks easier and more accurate.

Having acquired an interest in sewing at a very early age, Linda has been teaching a variety of sewing techniques through her business, Ghee's, for over 33 years. Very much a machinist, Linda likes to show her students how easy it is to acquire professional results when you know the proper techniques. She has designed numerous handbag and garment patterns. Her award winning books make stitching trouble-free and enjoyable. She travels the globe teaching at stores, guilds, conventions, both consumer oriented and trade, as well as makes TV appearances. Her latest venture is a fabric line with Hoffman of California.

Linda specializes in bag patterns and hardware, fancy and specialty zippers, and she has a new line of fabric. Sign-up today for one of her inspiring classes and see her at the Ghee's booth at the expo.

Wear Jacket Express

The Jacket Express has been by far one of the most popular patterns Islander Sewing has ever produced. For those of you joining us at the American Sewing Expo, September 27-29, 2013, please wear your Jacket Express made from this pattern.

One of the reason's this jacket is so much fun to make is it can be made in so many different fabrics for many different looks. I don't know about you but I love to make a pattern many times if I can continue to get different looks. It gets easier to sew each time you make one and you know its going to look good and fit well. It doesn't get much better than that!

While you are enjoying the excitement of the expo, stop by Islander Sewing Systems booth #412 and have your picture taken in front of our sign. We want to meet you!
Happy Sewing,
Janet
