    In Memory
Two long-time leaders of World Convention recently passed away.

Ray Blampied of New Zealand served as a minister and ecumenical leader. He and his wife Marjory were part of the New Zealand delegation at the third World Convention in 1947 in Buffalo, New York, USA. They later attended ten World Conventions through 1992. Ray was made a vice-president of World Convention in 1960. In retirement they continued to support churches and ministries throughout the world.

Leroy Garrett of the United States was a pioneer of Christian unity among Churches of Christ in the United States. As a scholar, he was known for his book, The Stone-Campbell Movement. Leroy was the first from acapella Churches of Christ to serve on the Executive Committee of the World Convention. He spoke at Conventions in Auckland, New Zealand in 1988, and in Long Beach, California in 1992.

We extend our sympathy to their families and we thank God for their commitment to Christian unity.

    Renewing The World
A Concise Global History of the Stone-Campbell Movement

Barton Stone, Thomas Campbell, and Alexander Campbell organized a nineteenth-century Christian renewal movement that later coalesced into three distinct church bodies in the United States: Churches of Christ, The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), and Christian Churches and Churches of Christ.
What is less known is that from these humble origins, the Stone-Campbell Movement has grown globally, now with churches in more than 199 countries. This book tells the story from the movement's beginnings all the way to its international expansion into Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia.
Complete with a study guide and personal reflection questions, this book is ideal for longtime members, new members, and those unfamiliar with the Stone-Campbell heritage.  Abilene Christian University Press, www.acupressbooks.com

    Love in the Call

About two years ago, a friend and mentor of mine gave me a set of cards. On the cards were verses of scripture - one for every day. Each card included my name as the object of God's love.  Read more...

"O the quiet holy joy of the silent hour, when the soul is alone with God! Have you learned to love it, dear reader? If not, you have yet to attain to one of the purest and sweetest pleasures possible to the Christian in this life" (J.H. Garrison, Alone with God, 21).

If this quotation has appeal to you, you are not alone. Many of us long to spend time alone with a God. But an hour? In our busy lives? Perhaps, like me, you have desired and intended for years to have a regular quiet time with God, but did not know how to begin. If so, then this volume provides a starting point, a daily five-minute devotional that can begin your time with God.
