A flat, fertile, forested plain in Eastern Europe, Ukraine has been independent since the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991. More than 60% of Ukrainians have no religious beliefs or affiliation. Croatian church leader Mladen Jovanovic dies at 68
The first Church of Christ minister in communist Yugoslavia, Jovanovic helped establish congregations in Zagreb and Belgrade before the Iron Curtain collapsed. Jovanovic later became the president of the Council of Churches in Croatia.
