UKRAINE 
A flat, fertile, forested plain in Eastern Europe, Ukraine has been independent since the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991. More than 60% of Ukrainians have no religious beliefs or affiliation. Of the 33% who claim to be Christians, 33% are affiliated with some version of the Eastern Orthodox Church; less than 1% is Protestant.

Ukrainian Bible Project

The Central Asian Russian Sciptures (CARS) Project, launched in 1996, has produced a version of the scriptures in the Russian language that appeals to a Muslim audience.  ~Learn More~

Since 1961 Eastern European Mission (EEM) has been providing God's Word to the people of Russia, Ukraine and Eastern Europe in their own languages. For many years EEM found ways to get the Bibles through The Iron Curtain. ~Learn More~

Croatian church leader Mladen Jovanovic dies at 68
 The first Church of Christ minister in communist Yugoslavia, Jovanovic helped establish congregations in Zagreb and Belgrade before the Iron Curtain collapsed. Jovanovic later became the president of the Council of Churches in Croatia.
