Connecting Everywhere...Every Day

Annual Report 2011

God enabled us to promote visible unity by your partnership with World Convention in 2011...

...among Christian Churches, Disciples of Christ, and Churches of Christ in the United States.

  • We were able to make a panel presentation on what all three groups have done together in the last several years.     This presentation had a very positive response at the Pepperdine Lectures, Summer Celebration at Lipscomb, the North American Christian Convention, the Disciples General Assembly, and Summit at Abilene Christian University.
  • We experienced an enlightening and helpful meeting of the Stone-Campbell Dialogue among all three groups in Albuquerque, New Mexico, joining Christians in all three groups in service and worship.

...among the Stone-Campbell Movement worldwide.

  • We had a wonderful visit to Australia and New Zealand, attending the state conferences of South Australia, Victoria-Tasmania, and New South Wales. In both Australia and New Zealand we saw the creative ways that churches are serving together in their communities.
  • We celebrated the 90th anniversary of the Churches of Christ in Poland, worshipping where the communist party once gathered.
  • We witnessed the deep dedication and joyous spirituality of the Korean church at the annual gathering of the Christian Churches in Korea.
  • We experienced the fellowship and instruction at the European Christian Workshop at Lancaster University, planned by Churches of Christ in the United Kingdom.
  • We rejoiced at the opening of the church in Bom Retiro, planted by churches in Brazil and Korea connected through World Convention.

...among the wider Christian fellowship worldwide.

  • We represented our churches at a marvelous meeting in Birmingham, Alabama, of Christian Churches Together in the USA. That meeting focused primarily on justice issues stemming from the Civil Rights movement.
  • We represented our churches at the 2nd Global Christian Forum in Manado, Indonesia in early October. At this meeting Christians from a wide variety of communions-Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant, Pentecostal, and Evangelical-prayed, studied the Bible, worshiped, and learned together.
  • We joined with Christian leaders from throughout the world in praying for peace and justice at the gathering in Assisi, Italy.
  • We represented our churches at the annual meeting of the Secretaries of World Christian Communions in Washington, D.C. in October

In addition to all these aspects of our ministry...

There is the daily connection that we provide for our churches worldwide through our website, our email ChristiaNet newsletter, our mailing, and through personal visits.  There have been visits to churches in twelve states and nine countries in the past year.  We also service through Global Women Connecting, who will have their meeting concurrent with the Global Gathering in Brazil.

Your gift allows us in all these ways to fulfill our mission:  The World Convention of Churches of Christ exists in order more fully to show the essential oneness of the churches in the Lord Jesus Christ; to build up fellowship, understanding, and common purpose within the Christian-Churches of Christ-Disciples of Christ global family; to encourage and inspire these churches in their serving, prophetic and reconciling ministries; to provide a means of relating the global family to the whole Church of Jesus Christ; and to cooperate with Christians everywhere toward the unity of the Church upon the basis of the New Testament Scriptures.

We ask for your continued prayer and gifts for 2012 as we move toward the Goiania Gathering.
