PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Every so often I get a question that goes something like this - "Why should I join the Chamber?  What's in it for me?"

While there is always value in belonging to an organization that is committed to supporting the health of the Genesee County business community, you cannot experience the full value of a Chamber membership without taking advantage of the many benefits the Chamber has to offer.

Meeting Planner Sales Outreach
The Chamber represented Genesee County meetings & events venues at the annual Conference & Trade Show for the Empire State Society of Association Executives (ESSAE) on June 2nd in Saragota Springs. Lauren Humphrey and Becky Sphar (pictured) met with
52 meeting planners to discuss their meeting needs and promote the county as a meetings destination. New business leads were attained and we anticipate multiple bookings from this show. Attendees received a sales kit that included information on our meeting venues as well as a visitor and area dining guides.

Sports Tourism
a win for Genesee County
Genesee County will reap the benefits of hosting multi-week baseball and softball tournament. Over the next four weekends (until July 3) Genesee County will host over 10,000 baseball and softball players, coaches, families and fans at the "6th Annual Darien Lake Tournament Series." The tournament, which began on May 27, is produced by Pitch 'n Hit Events and Darien Lake Amusement Park, will take place at numerous ballfields throughout Genesee County.

The tournament will feature 300 teams from numerous states and Western New York. The ages of the players range from 10 years old to 18 years old, and include both Baseball and Fast Pitch Softball.

The influx of visitors is expected to create over a $1,005,000 economic impact during the span of both tournaments through staying in hotels and visiting local restaurants and shops. The tournament will generate over 2,160 room nights at our area hotels. The Genesee County Chamber of Commerce will assist visitors in finding local destinations by providing the new dining guide, maps, visitors guide and area coupons.
SIGNS YOU'RE SUCCESSFUL-
EVEN IF IT DOESN'T FEEL LIKE IT

If you're ambitious, you're bound to feel like a failure from time to time. Lofty goals lead to inevitable moments when you aren't yet living up to your expectations.
Real success is about who you are and how far you've come. If you ever worry that you're not as successful as you should be, you may be evaluating yourself against the wrong criteria. Sometimes you just need a reminder as to what you've really accomplished in life. The success indicators that follow will help you do just that.

QUOTE OF THE MONTH

"Success is liking yourself, liking what you do and liking how you do it."   -Maya Angelou
