Chamber OnLine
News from the Genesee County Chamber of Commerce

This past month has been a whirlwind of major events at the Genesee County Chamber of Commerce.
We started off on March 5 with the 44th Annual Genesee County Chamber of Commerce Awards Ceremony at the Clarion Hotel.  Over 400 people attended this sold-out event as we honored worthy businesses and individuals for their accomplishments.

"Reputation Marketing" will be the subject of this month's Genesee County Chamber of Commerce's Small Business Workshop on Wednesday, April 13.  The workshop will deal with the fundamentals of keeping a good reputation in today's electronic environment and how to use your reputation to gain sales.
These Chamber business workshops are designed to help small businesses improve their skills and grow their businesses.  The workshops are FREE to all Chamber members and their employees and will be made available to non-Chamber members for $10. Other 2016 workshops scheduled include:  May 11 - "Public Speaking Tips for Business" and June 8 - "Leading vs. Managing Change".  A workshop on "Dealing with Drugs in the Workplace" has also been added at a date to be determined this summer.
All business workshops begin at 7:30 a.m. and last for approximately 1 hours.  For more information, contact Kelly Bermingham art 585-343-7440 ext. 26 or by email.

Many people around the world find it difficult to balance work and family. here is a great saying: "No success can compensate for failure in the home." The most basic organization in any society is the family unit. Without strong families, nations become weak. We have to make a choice to forego many distractions or even enticing financial rewards, if we are pulled away from our families.

Hello from New Staff
I am pleased to introduce myself as the newest member of the Genesee County Chamber of Commerce.  My name is Lauren Humphrey, and I have lived in Genesee County for the majority of my life. I graduated from LeRoy High School in 2006 after which I attended Genesee Community College while working full-time at LeRoy Central Schools as a tutor.  By 2011, my husband and I began to look into purchasing our first home and decided to remain in LeRoy.  It is home to us, and Genesee County is where we are happiest.
Throughout high school I was involved in various service projects and volunteerism.  Once I planted my roots I really plugged in and have been involved in several organizations, events and projects throughout the county to include the Rotary Club of LeRoy, Oatka Festival, LeRoy Christian Community Project, and more.  Volunteering has allowed me the flexibility to stay home and raise my 3 young children while gleaning valuable skills, experience and connections that aided me in my search for employment.  When my job hunt began, I was very dedicated to continuing service to Genesee County.  For this reason, I am thrilled to have accepted the Tourism Marketing Assistant position.  I understand the great benefit the Chamber provides our county, and I'm excited to be part of the team.
