Chamber OnLine
News from the Genesee County Chamber of Commerce
Message from the President

It's been a long, cold winter but it has still been a busy time at your Chamber of Commerce.  Last Saturday night the Annual Genesee County Chamber of Commerce Awards night was held at The Clarion Hotel.  Nearly 300 people attended as we recognized some of the outstanding businesses and individuals who make Genesee County such a great place to work and live.

March promises to be another busy and exciting month with two major events taking place.  On Saturday, March 21 the Celebrate Agriculture dinner will be held at the Alexander Fire Hall.  This event is always a sell-out and is exactly what its name entails - a celebration of the local agricultural community, Genesee County's number one industry.  And as you would expect, the food is plentiful and delicious!

New Restaurant Advertising Opportunity

Each season the Chamber updates and reprints the very popular dining guide for distribution to hotel and campground guests, sports teams, golf package customers as well as conference and convention attendees. 8,000 dining guides are printed each spring, and are distributed primarily through the hotels and campgrounds, the Batavia Sports Park, the Visitor Information Center as well as to each visitor who requests one through our web site.

This year, we are expanding the layout to provide area restaurants an opportunity to highlight their businesses with display advertising.  The Dining Guides will be complete and distribution will begin by May 1. (March 18th Deadline to participate)

SEVEN HABITS OF HIGHLY
SUCCESSFUL FAILURES!

It's not easy being a Sales Manager. Some get promoted because they were the best sales rep, others the BDM who has the most seniority or worse the sales person who manages his managers the best. Good management skills need training, coaching and clear direction, and without these things, some managers simply don't realize how poorly they perform.

The following five statements are a sure sign of ineffective management, and are likely to have a destructive effect on sales culture and team members.
