Message from the President

Sometimes when dealing with the daily minutia of the workday we lose sight of the big picture of what we are accomplishing. In preparation for a "Year in Review" presentation for the Annual Chamber Membership meeting this week, I spent some time looking back at what we have accomplished at the Chamber in 2014. What I realized is that your Chamber has accomplished a lot!

Business After(?) Hours

November's Business After Hours event should probably be called "Business BEFORE Hours". MattressFirm, located at 8351 Lewiston Road, Batavia in the Tops Plaza will be hosting "Breakfasts, Beds & Business" on Thursday, November 13. What makes this event unique is that it is being held from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. instead of the usual after work p.m. hours.

This is a networking event open to all Chamber members and potential Chamber members. There will be a 50/50 raffle to benefit Crossroads House, door prizes, and breakfast will be provided by the nearby Subway.

Please RSVP to Kelly Bermingham at 585-343-7440 by November 10th. It will be great way to start your day!

Call for Business of the Year Nominations

The Chamber's Annual Awards Committee is now accepting nominations for Businesses of the Year. Nominations must be received by November 7, 2014 to be eligible for consideration.

Please note that a brief write up will qualify your nominee for consideration.  Nominations are now being accepted for Business of the Year, Entrepreneurial Business of the Year, Agricultural Business of the Year, Innovative Enterprise of the Year, Special Service Recognition & Geneseeans of the Year.  Business Nominees must be a Chamber Member (If unsure of your nominee, call the Chamber to verify).

How to Start a Conversation with Absolutely Anyone

Did you know that public speaking is often rated the number one thing people are afraid of? But while getting up on a stage in front of an audience can definitely be nerve wracking, many people find striking up a conversation one-on-one just as intimidating.
