Louis M. Weiner, MD, has been appointed to serve on the advisory council for the Center for Scientific Review at the National Institutes of Health. The CSR organizes the peer-review groups that evaluate the majority of research grant applications submitted to the NIH.

The Wall Street Journal interviewed Dr. Louis Weiner for a story about advances in cancer immunotherapy announced at the American Association of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) meeting.

 

Reuters quoted Dr. Claudine Isaacs in two stories about ASCO studies including one about fertility preservation during chemotherapy and one about a new treatment approach for breast cancer.

AROUND CAMPUS


Five new crosses are now in place on top of Healy Hall to replace the originals damaged in the 2011 earthquake. The originals remained on top of the university's Healy Hall for more than 100 years. 

PRESS RELEASES

Physician researchers from Georgetown Lombardi and the John Theurer Cancer Center in Hackensack, New Jersey, recently announced the formation of the Regional Immunotherapy Discovery Program. The program accelerates discovery and implementation of a new immunotherapy approach, which combines the full potential of two strategies currently used in cancer treatment: cancer immunotherapy and bone marrow stem cell transplantation.
