Sephora Partnership

We'd like to extend a huge thank you to Sephora for joining us in helping to provide basic essentials for kiddos in need!

With this new partnership, customers are given two choices for how they can make a contribution to A Precious Child:

1. On in-store purchases, customers can donate any amount from $1 - $5.

2. For online purchases, customers can make a donation of any amount.

This is not only a great way for us to raise funds for A Precious Child, but also an important way for us to raise awareness about what we do, since customers online and in the Boulder area will have constant reminders about our work. We hope you all share in our excitement about this partnership!

Volunteer of the Month

July 2014

Nancy Miller

Nancy is a dedicated, willing volunteer who is ready (with a smile on her face) for any new challenge we toss her way. She assists with data entry into eTapestry, our donor database, and is a huge asset in our efforts to keep this donor database organized, efficient, and updated.

From the start, she has let her passion for serving others shine through. Without fail, Nancy is ready to jump into her work every Monday and Friday that she spends with us. Her passion and personality help make A Precious Child a better place! She is an important part of how we keep our organization going and we couldn't do what we do without her. Thanks for your dedication, Nancy!

Greetings!
What a summer season we've had and we are still going strong with many, exciting opportunities for you to help us have an impact! From our Colorado sporting events and our giveSPORTS drives to our preparation for the new school year with Fill A Backpack, we're excited to partner with you. We could not accomplish what we do without your continued support, so thank you! We hope you'll check out all of the exciting updates highlighted below.
This Month's Story of Hope

While there are many stories of hope every day at A Precious Child, we just HAD to share Dorettie and Alfonso's story this month! Dorettie - a 27-year-old, single mom of four boys - is devoted to doing whatever it takes to provide for her children. She is a "ball of energy" whose strengths are many. She was a featured speaker at our 2014 Gala and informed guests that she was unemployed and looking for work. Our long-time supporter Mister Sparky Electrical Services was at the event and stepped up to help get her a job. Dorettie has since earned her GED and is an employee at Mister Sparky Electrical Services!

Dorettie's work ethic, self-sufficient attitude, and positive spirit have allowed her to become the role model she wants to be for her boys. Dorettie's boys do not want her to have to work so hard to care for them, but they are proud of everything she has accomplished. We are grateful for the opportunity to support strong women like Dorettie on a regular basis and look forward to celebrating her "graduation" from needing our services in the near future.

Dustin Martin Honored with CenturyLink "Teens in Action" Award - Join Us In Celebrating his Contribution to A Precious Child!

Dustin Martin, student at Holy Family High School and son of A Precious Child CEO & Founder Carina Martin, was recently selected as a winner of the CenturyLink "Teens in Action" Award. CenturyLink, in partnership with the Colorado Rockies, launched the "CenturyLink Teens in Action" program to recognize and reward six Colorado teenagers who are making a difference in their community through outstanding volunteer efforts. Dustin was selected for founding A Precious Child's giveSPORTS program, and we received a $2,000 donation as part of the award ceremony. Dustin also received on-field recognition at a Colorado Rockies game as part of the honor.

Congratulations, Dustin! Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication - your help has allowed A Precious Child to have a greater impact in our community!

Special Request - Event Committee Volunteers Needed!

A Precious Child is seeking dynamic, creative, and organized volunteers to take part in the 2015 Gatsby Gala Planning Committee.  A Precious Child raised more than $200,000 at the 2014 Casino Royale-themed Gala last year and is seeking a group of go-getters to help us make next year's event even more successful! The Planning Committee meets bi-weekly from August through April in the evenings. This is an ideal opportunity for volunteers who are excited to work hard to make a difference in the lives of local children in need.

For more information or to find out how you can sign up, please contact Event Coordinator, Emily Simones at Emily@APreciousChild.org or at 303-466-4272.

Support Fill A Backpack at our School Supply Drive on July 26, 2014!
In partnership with the Broomfield Police Department, we are hosting our largest School Supply Drive of the Fill A Backpack season! On Saturday, July 26, from 9am - 5pm we'll be collecting school supplies to support disadvantaged and displaced children at the Wal-Mart at 4651 West 121st Avenue in Broomfield.

Walmart FAB

This year Fill A Backpack will have over 70 drop-off locations available for donations from July 14 - August 15. More than 90 local businesses and organizations have committed to hosting donation drop-off locations for backpacks and school supplies from July 14 through August 15. If you are interested in hosting a bin yourself, please contact our Director of Programs Courtney Rogers at Courtney@APreciousChild.org.

If you wish to provide supplies for a specific child, stop by the A Precious Child Resource Center at 557 Burbank Street, Unit E in Broomfield and pick up a tag detailing the child's gender, grade, and specific school supply needs. Visit www.APreciousChild.org for more information on our Fill A Backpack program.

Join us at Buffalo Wild Wings and support giveSPORTS with our "EAT WINGS. RAISE FUNDS." Event!

Throughout the entire day on Friday, August 8, Buffalo Wild Wings will be donating 10% of all food and beverage sales to our giveSPORTS program, which allows disadvantaged and displaced children to participate in sports through providing new and gently-used sports equipment as well as sports scholarships.

Mark your calendars for a day of great food, great fun and helping kids throughout Colorado get what they need to participate in sports! We're recruiting businesses and organizations to adopt a Buffalo Wild Wings location and encourage their employees and network to eat there on that day. If interested, please contact our Director of Programs, Courtney Rogers, at Courtney@APreciousChild.org or at (303) 466-4272.

The 3rd Annual Jessica Ghawi giveSPORTS Equipment Drive will be held at The Pepsi Center on Saturday, August 23 from 7am-noon and we invite you to help us put a kid in the game!

Prior to her death, Jessica had dreamed of helping the children and families that had lost everything to the devastating Colorado wildfires by providing them with sports equipment. This equipment drive was created in 2012 in partnership with Kroenke Sports Charities to help

realize Jessica's dream and to provide new and gently-used sports equipment as well as sports participation fee scholarships to disadvantaged and displaced children.

For more information about A Precious Child's giveSPORTS program or the 3rd Annual Jessica Ghawi giveSPORTS Equipment Drive, please contact Courtney Rogers, Director of Programs, at Courtney@APreciousChild.org

Thank you again to all supporters of A Precious Child. We greatly appreciate you! Together we can do more for children in need in Colorado.
