A giveSPORTS Supporter

Bill, a 9th grader at Boulder High School, organized a giveSPORTS drive at Sacred Heart of Jesus School last week. His efforts helped collect balls, bats, skates, protective gear, and cleats. We are so very lucky to have the support of individuals in the community like Bill! Interested in hosting a drive of your own? Please contact our Resource Center Manager, Kiki at kiki@apreciouschild.org or call us at 303-466-4272.
 One Cute Client!

We LOVE client success stories! This little girl came into our Resource Center to do some shopping, as her family was going through a rough time. She founds this beautiful dress for Easter, and just as her mother was expressing her thanks for our assistance and telling us about how difficult it was to find a job so that she could help her husband in financially supporting their family, she received the phone call she had been waiting for! The person calling had offered her a job, and she gladly and tearfully accepted. We're so very thankful that we can help families in need and also see them succeed in supporting themselves and their children and no longer needing our assistance.
Greetings!

Your GIft Cards Can Help Improve School Attendance

Please Donate Gift Cards as Incentives to Keep Kids in School Through Our Truancy Intervention Program!

Our Truancy Intervention Program provides incentives, such as gift cards to local restaurants and stores, to children that have been struggling with school attendance and have been called to Truancy Court. The program was created in partnership with local judges and courts that truly want to see struggling students succeed.

Gift Cards of all amounts from all places can make a difference!
One young student was recently called to Truancy Court because she was failing a class as a result of poor attendance. Through the court system, she was given the opportunity to receive a gift card through our Truancy Intervention Program if she was able to improve her attendance and her grades. She returned to court to report that she had brought her grade in the class up to an 88%! When asked by the judge what motivated her to make a change, and she said, "I'd never been to Applebee's and I wanted to go, so I got my grades up." The program gave her hope and encouragement to persevere. Your gift cards could help more students improve their attendance and performance at school.

Any and all gift cards are accepted. No remaining balance amount is too small, and it all goes to helping motivate kids to stay in school! Please mail your gift cards to:

A Precious Child

Thank you for donating your gift cards to help us keep kids in school! Program questions can be directed to our Director of Programs, Courtney Rogers, at courtneyrogers@apreciouschild.org.

Agency Partner Highlight: Adams County School District 50

A Precious Child & Adams County School District 50 Partner to Bring Basic Essentials to Local Students in Their Schools

New Precious Super Boutique Helps Students Prepare for Success in School.

A Precious Child and Adams County School District 50 have been partnering for years to help bring basic essentials to disadvantaged and displaced children in the school district. A new development resulting from the partnership is a very exciting Precious Super Boutique that is up and running and served its very first clients in January. The boutique is located in a small classroom at Hidden Lake High School and is centrally-located for the Adams 50 School District.

There are a total of 6 Community Liaisons, each of which serve 3-4 Adams County 50 schools, that know the students and their families and can identify when there might be a need for basic essentials. They can either provide clothing, coats, and shoes directly to the children that need them and can also invite the child's family to come to the Precious Super Boutique and shop for the child and for their other family member's needs.

One Community Liaison, Julia, tearfully told a success story that has already come out of the boutique. A student was refusing to go to school because his family couldn't afford shoes that fit him. Through the boutique, the family was given a few pairs of shoes so that the child was confident and ready to go to school and focus on schoolwork. Clients have even called the Community Liaisons "Angels" and they have said that it is the people that support A Precious Child and make this work possible that are the true angels. Together we are helping children to be prepared for school!
Thank you so much for giving so much heart and support to our organization. Together we can do more for children in need in Colorado.

Sincerely,

A Precious Child Staff
