Bernie DiFalco

Volunteer of the Month

Bernie
Bernie DiFalco is what her friend Mary Juszynski calls a "quiet hero". Bernie is constantly doing things for others without ever asking for anything in return. Bernie began volunteering at A Precious Child over a year ago, coming in each week to help sort and organize all of the donations that come in. Bernie never says no to any volunteer opportunity asked of her. She volunteers at all of our events and always has beautiful smile on her face. Alongside A Precious Child, Bernie is also involved with the Senior Center, helping with Meals on Wheels and serving on their board. Without volunteers like Bernie, A Precious Child wouldn't be what we are today.

Client Stories

It's always beautiful to see a child smile after receiving a new toy, clothing, or books. The joy we see in the families after leaving A Precious Child is amazing, and we love to share some simple moments with you.

Bobby was a foster child for a long time until one of our longtime agency partner clients adopted him a few months ago. Bobby and his sister kept our program staff bouncing while they enjoyed a fun-filled afternoon at our Resource Center going through bin after bin of our sports equipment and toys.  Bobby's search for just the right toy came to a screeching halt when he discovered two adorable horses.  They were promptly named Harriet and Bigfoot and now live in his barn. While he and his family were here we were able to give mom a birthday bag (complete with cake  mix, icing, candles, and a gift card for ice cream generously donated by Sunrise Senior Living) and two birthday gifts for his 5 year old sister!

A Precious Child would like to express our sincerest gratitude to Seventh Generation and Whole Foods for their incredible, ENORMOUS donation of diapers.  Through the tremendous efforts of Bob Dixon from Seventh Generation and Tom Rich and Jessica Moore from Whole Foods, they donated 50,491 diapers to our Basics 4 Babies program!  Just in case you were wondering that is 2,627 pounds of diapers valued at over $18,000!  Thank you to our heroes Whole Foods and Seventh Generation!
