A Precious Child, Inc.

March 2011

Dear Supporters,

Spring is right around the corner and so are A Precious Child's greatest fundraising events. On April 10th the Broomfield Police Department and the North Metro Fire Rescue Department will compete in the 2nd Annual Bowl for A Precious Child tournament. This is an event not to be missed. Neither the Police nor Fire Department likes losing so the competition is fierce! Next, on April 30th Chick-fil-A at Larkridge will host their annual 5K Run/Walk to benefit A Precious Child. This event is so much fun and a great way for the whole family to enjoy the outdoors, get some exercise, raise money for children and eat Chick-fil-A. What could be better than that? Last but certainly not least is A Precious Child's 3rd Annual Golf for A Precious Child Tournament. This fundraising event ensures that we have adequate funding to supply disadvantaged children with backpacks filled with school supplies. This year's golf tournament will be on June 10th at Legacy Ridge Golf Course in Westminster and it is sure to be a blast!

As always, thank you for all of your support and we look forward to see you at our upcoming events!

Cornerstone Christian Academy
christian academy
Several teachers, adults, and 35 students from Cornerstone Christian Academy in grades 9th - 12th volunteered to help A Precious Child. Courtney Rogers, Director of Client Services, said, "The kids were amazing! They were enthusiastic, respectful, and hard-workers." The students helped inventory, sort, and size donated clothing in the Central Clothing Bank. They also helped with clients and played with children keeping them entertained while their parents picked out clothes and other basic essentials.
A Precious Child sincerely thanks the Cornerstone Christian Academy for helping!
Holy Family Volunteers
holy family1
Holy Family students regularly volunteer at A Precious Child. The students spend hours of their time inventorying, organizing and attractively displaying donated clothing and essentials. This is critical to the operation of our Central Clothing Bank. Part of what makes us unique is that our clients can enjoy a retail experience when visiting our Central Clothing Bank but free of charge. We are delighted that clients leave A Precious Child with a renewed since of hope in addition to the much needed clothing and essentials. This would not be possible without the help of generous volunteers. A Precious Child would like to thank the students of Holy Family for their hard work and dedication to helping children and families who are less fortunate.

Volunteer of the Month
nita fullerton
Nita Fullerton has been a go getter her whole life. Nita is one of six children, so growing up resources were limited. Still, that did not stop her from working hard to create an amazingly full life. In addition to being fun, loving, and energetic, Nita is incredibly talented. Recently she retired as a writer/editor from The National Oceanic and Atmoshperic Administration (NOAA) weather service where she worked for over 10 years. Nita's grand-daughter, Terra, said, "Now, she is busy being the greatest grandma anyone could ask for!"
A Precious Child is grateful to Nita for offering her knowlege and skills to helping those in need.

 Fabulous at 40!

40th b-day

Forty feels fabulous when you can use the occasion to help others.  Recently, when Jason Dunn was planning an event to celebrate his wife Lisa's 40th birthday, the two decided that the best way to honor Lisa and the occasion would be to help children in need. Jason and Lisa requested that their friends and neighbors, most of which are parents of growing children, bring donations of gently used clothing to be given to A Precious Child in lieu of gifts or cards.

Lisa was delighted to bring the donated clothing to A Precious Child in honor of her birthday. Next time your birthday rolls around, remember you can be FABULOUS at any age.   And don't forget A Precious Child, monetary and in-kind donations are always needed and appreciated. Thank you Lisa and Happy 40th!

Kids say thanks!
Recently two children from the Kempe Foundation had their backpacks stolen from their mentor's car. A Precious Child provided new backpacks filled with school supplies to the two boys. They wrote the following thank you notes.
"Dear A Precious Child, Inc. Thank you for the new backpack. Did you know that my favorite color is blue? I love the new backpack. Thanks for the supplies because it is making school and group easier."
"Thank you A Precious Child, Inc. for the backpack and supplies. I really appreciate it. You will make my year so much better with your supplies.
Thank you!"
