This colour sequence moves in reverse to the 'natural' east-west direction where the sun rises in the east and sets in the west.  This is intentional and we are hoping to inspire a new bridge created by human beings walking by, meeting each other, and creating a new rainbow.

- From The Stained Glass Major Donor Window by Regine Kurek and Jef Saunders, Hesperus Window designers

Greetings!

Try it sometime!  Next time you visit Hesperus, find a partner and walk towards each other from opposite ends of the window.  (You will get best results when the sun is shining!)  Try to observe how this colour bath enhances the encounter.

The window experience is an example of what anthroposophy makes possible: waking up to each other in surprising new ways.  For lots of other examples, read on!

SOCIAL ART - and the Seach for the Deep Self
From the Shades of Influence Exhibit, 27 Sept 2013.

In recent months, community members have collaborated on several events and workshops for developing new capacities in social art.  We have invited participants to dissolve professional and institutional boundaries - and find new courage together.

We are now looking forward with anticipation to the visit of Deborah and Tom Ravetz.  They are well qualified to guide us on the next step on our journey.

The Drama of Community -
Lecture and Drama Workshop with Barbara Renold
In rehearsal with Barbara Renold, Chestnut Ridge NY

In the 1960s, Hans Pusch began producing Rudolf Steiner's Mystery Dramas in English.  Over the following decades, the dramas have engaged countless actors, eurythmists, production folk - and of course audience members!  As Rudolf Steiner intended, these plays are becoming a vital cultural force.  Today, the champion is Barbara Renold. She is the leader of the Mystery Drama project, and they are producing all four plays in August at the Threefold Community..

Barbara is coming to Thornhill April 25-26 to give a talk and workshop.  This is a great opportunity to experience the energy of the plays.  All are welcome.  Plan to participate!

METAMORPHOSIS!
Festival of Arts And Education
at the Rudolf Steiner Centre,  7 - 25 July

HIGHLIGHT:

Metamorphosis and the Goetheanum, with Christian Hitsch

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, while best known as a poet and writer, felt that his scientific studies into
metamorphosis were his most valuable contribution to humanity. We will explore Goethe's ideas on
metamorphosis and see how they are revealed in the artistic forms of the Goetheanum, the world centre for anthroposophy located in Dornach, Switzerland. Observation and modelling in clay will facilitate a deeper understanding into the true nature of metamorphosis.

Festival details and registration

SPECIAL NOTE: Christian Hitsch will be on campus for an extended period.  For more intormation about his planned activities, contact Greg Scott.  email

Motto of Social Ethics

It is only wholesome when
In the mirror of the Human Soul
the whole community takes shape
and in the community
lives the strength of individual soul
