Greetings,
As a non-profit organization, The Swain School is led by a dedicated Board of Trustees. Among other important tasks, the Board adopts the school's strategic goals and then establishes the policies and plans to achieve them. All the while being careful stewards of the school's resources.
At its final meeting of the current school year, the Board attended to some important business among its membership, including the recognition of members completing their terms of service.
Three Swain trustees were honored for their service on the Board - together they served over 40 years: Linda Noonan, Pat Scagliotti and Vykie Whipple.

was on the Board for ten years, most recently serving a three-year term as Board Chair. As an active volunteer, she served as a room parent, Swain Association officer, Holiday House Tour chair, and chair of the Auction's acquisitions committee, among many other roles.
Mrs. Scagliotti's service to Swain includes nine years on the Board, as well as co-chairing the first Auction and serving as school nurse for nine years. She also served as Swain Association president, chaired the Committee on Trustees and initiated the Legacy Gift Committee. Mrs. Scagliotti is the parent of three Swain alumni - Katrina '91, Chris '93 and Greg '96 - and grandmother of Evan '24.

Mrs. Whipple's membership on the Board exceeds 20 years; during the majority of that time she handled the Secretary responsibilities and chaired the Board Technology Committee. She is the parent of Swain alums Durand '02 and Lee '05.
For many years Mrs. Whipple also shared her love of geology with our young scientists, as a popular class visitor (left).
All three were honored at the June 1 Appreciation
Event, where their efforts were acknowledged and each was presented with a gift to remember their time on the Board (right, Mrs. Noonan and Mrs. Scagliotti).
As incoming Board Chair Bill Wreaks commented, "It is important to note that Swain's impressive story is built on the shoulders - and hard work - of giants who have come before us.
"I specifically wish to point out the work and commitment of three dedicated individuals who have completed their terms on the Swain Board of Trustees, after years of effective service to the school and its mission. I offer them heartfelt appreciation and deep gratitude for their hard work and service over the years."
