Greetings,

We don't want to jinx things by commenting on yet another beautiful Sunday afternoon!

Although there are a few clouds in the forecast for tomorrow, it will still be a fine day to come out and cheer on our Cougars - the soccer teams will be playing, and the Cross Country team will have a meet, all at Swain beginning at 3:45 p.m. They love to have spectators so plan to stop by - in the meantime, enjoy these photos from the soccer team's games against Perkiomen.

There was plenty of action in the classrooms as well - Virginia Abbott worked with all of our K-8 students, as our Visiting Artist for the week. In addition to inspiring our students with her art using found and recycled materials, she created a one-of-a-kind piece for Swain that we will be unveiling next week. Stop by the gallery in the Community Room for a sneak peek! Above: Ms. Abbott gives
Mrs. Gaugler's students a preview of the Swain piece.

Kindergarten teacher Mrs. Beers writes, "Right now we are in our 'All About Me' theme! Each student brings three things from home in their 'All About Me Bag' and shares them with the class so we can get to know them better." Click on any photo in this e-newsletter to take you to a gallery of more images - and be sure to look at all the photos on our "SmugMug" gallery. Many of our teachers share their classroom activities on a regular basis, so check back often!

And to close, a little more outdoor action: on a recent afternoon, the 5th-8th graders (like the 5th graders, left) spent some time doing community service on the Swain campus. We have over 20 acres to care for, and it takes the help of everyone in our community!

Thanks for enjoying our Swain Stories!

And this week on Facebook - our top story of the week:

Three of our middle schoolers did their first-ever 80 mile bike ride yesterday (along with their respective parents), raising awareness and donations for Multiple Sclerosis (that's like riding from Swain to the Philadelphia Airport, just to give you a reference!). One parent wrote, "So proud of their accomplishment... Being good citizens and serving community comes from the place of education and home. Good job Swain!"
