More outdoor fun, but of a more
artistic sort - the seventh graders went on a favorite field trip to Longwood Gardens, to enjoy a day of water coloring.

And more plant fun...

Mrs. Akers' and Mrs. Johnson's Prekindergarten students have embarked on a project to grow new 'baby' spider plants from their very large 'mommy' plant. Each student has a baby which they named, and will nurture over the next couple of months. Can you say 'patience'?
Mr. Armstrong loses a friendly wager
Back in September, Mr. Armstrong made a friendly wager with one of our third grade Red Sox fans about the outcome of the World Series, and obviously lost! So for Thursday's Lower School Town Meeting he wore his Red Sox tie and had a "B" spray-painted on his head - what a good sport. Super Red Sox fan Mrs. Ritchie (left) was there to lead the cheers.
Opening this weekend
Eighteen 7th- and 8th graders are
eager to present their production of "Romeo & Juliet: A Collective Collaboration", opening this Friday evening. Working with their director, Miss Quinn, they have put their own interpretation on William Shakespeare's classic tragedy.
Join us for a 'sneak peek' on Friday afternoon at 2:25 p.m. in The McCann Center.

Alumni News
Eliza Lawless '10 has earned player of the week status at Blair Academy for the second time this fall season. The number one girls' cross country runner all season, Eliza, the senior captain, is finishing her season with a bang. Racing in the boys' race against St. Benedict's she became only the second girl in Blair history to run Blair's course in under 19 minutes. This past week, Eliza placed third at Prep States and first at the MAPL championships by over half a minute.
And two of our alumni who now attend St. Andrew's (Delaware) have checked in with their news...
Two years ago, the family of Jenna Popp '13 hosted Angelo, a cultural ambassador from Guatemala who attended Swain for two months. Her mom writes to say, "This weekend we got to meet Angelo's family and
see him again as they were visiting relatives in the U.S. As you can imagine Jenna and Angelo were very excited to see each other. I'm glad we decided to host him because we made lifelong friends in Guatemala."
Peter Stansbery '11 plays soccer on
St. Andrew's varsity team, and this weekend they played in the quarterfinals for the Delaware State tournament. Peter plays left fullback, and they won 3-0 last night in this quarterfinal game in Rehobeth, DE. All starters received mohawks to rally their energy for the competition (this photo is from Wednesday night's game, 'pre-mohawk'). Next game is the semifinals for the states on Wednesday night in Dover, DE. "Go Saints!"
Thanks and have a great week!
