Greetings,

As always, there are many fun and exciting stories to share with you - here are a few samples of what we've been up to. Check out the photo galleries on our website for even more (all of our teachers share photos from their classes plus we have pictures from school-wide events, sports and theatre).

And make sure you scroll all the way to the end to find out what our alumni are doing!

Senorita Parente and her fifth grade Spanish class took advantage of this week's nice weather and went outside for their lesson on pronouns.

More good weather activities - Miss Zepp's and Miss Knerr's Kindergarten class visited the organic garden with their science teacher,
Mrs. Bardman. Soon we will have fresh broccoli to eat!

You can also see some photos from the class' trip to the Wood Mobile - Mrs. Bardman arranged for this 'classroom on wheels' to visit Swain, to better acquaint our lower school students with the trees and wood of our state.

Each sports season kicks off with a Playday, when six schools' athletic teams get together to play a series of shortened games. Swain hosted this year's Boys Lacrosse Playday, while the girls team traveled to Montgomery.

Before the spring sports teams began their schedule of games, the entire school gathered for the always-popular "Red & White Pep Rally". The SASS cheer-leaders (represented here by Clara, Eliana and Hayley), Paws, and 8th grader Meg helped introduce the two lacrosse teams and the new "Cross Fit" crew, and cheered them on to a successful season!

And some indoor fun: for the past several years the fourth graders have been exploring "Beatnik" poetry as part of their April poetry study. On Tuesday morning - complete with sunglasses and bongos - they presented their original works (this is Sarah performing).

More poetry news: visiting Poet-in-Residence Judyth Hill will be at Swain for the next two weeks, inspiring student and adult poets alike (check the weekly calendar for her adult session times).

Alumni News

We hope you have been enjoying the "Alumni Profiles" feature we recently initiated on our Swain website. These short pieces give an idea of where our graduates continue their educational and career journeys, as well as - in their own words - give a glimpse of what their Swain experiences mean to them.

Justin Cohen '94 is just one of our alumni who is profiled - we think you'll enjoy his memories of his Swain sports career as well as how 'small classes' affected him and how he got involved with numerous 'big opportunities'.

And as for 'amazing results': Justin's education and training have led him to an important career path. Click on his photo to read his story, and that of other Swain alumni.

Alumni: We love to hear from you! Please contact us at alumni@swain.org and share your news, current contact information, and Swain memories.
