Buddies are BIG at Swain!
Mrs. Takacs' and Mrs. Hollenbeck's Prekindergarten class got in the spirit of the holidays with a recent visit from their fifth grade buddies, from Mrs. Coverley's room.
The "bigs" helped the "littles" make foam gingerbread houses. They also enjoyed eating some (real) gingerbread that they made in class ahead of time. It was a fun morning as they enjoyed time with their very special buddies! Click on the photo of Ian and Genesis to see more pictures.
What's better than reading around a cozy "campfire" on a cold day? Writing buddies from Mrs. Scerbo's second grade class got together with their fourth grade friends from Mrs. Reger's class, to share their Personal Narratives. We wonder if "S'mores" were on the agenda?

Mrs. Henning, our Lower School PE teacher, put on her creative thinking cap and came up with a fun buddy activity - a winter-themed obstacle course in the gym!
Friends (from left) third grader Molly, Kindergartner Fiona, and third grader Reese had a blast "speed skating", "snowman bowling", and going on a "turkey hunt" together. First- and second graders also enjoyed the course.

We recently told you about the seventh grade authors who wrote and illustrated their own books, which they then read to younger friends at Swain.
Here are some additional photos, as Mrs. Gruber's English class reads to Mrs. Gaugler's first graders. Click on the photo of Analia, Julianne and Cai to see more pictures. We are sorry to say good-bye (temporarily) to Cai and her family, who are moving to New Zealand - we hope to see Cai back next fall as a second grader. Happy travels, and stay in touch!
