Last spring we announced a new

iPad Pilot Program

that we've now launched in our
5th grade classrooms.

We will be sending occasional information pieces
to better acquaint you with how we are utilizing
this state-of-the-art technology.

As part of their Asian studies curric-
ulum, the fifth grade students are
studying the Mandarin language with Mrs. Bei Wang.

Repetition is the key to learning any new language.

With a special app (short for application, or program) on the iPads, the students can study their Mandarin vocabulary between bi-weekly sessions with Mrs. Wang (here is the list of all the apps they are using so far, in many different subjects).

Fifth grade teacher Kylie Miller made this short video with her iPad to demonstrate how Addison, Jeffrey and Will use this app:

Whether practicing in small groups -
or  individually, as Cami (right) - shows,
this technology provides a big
opportunity to become more proficient
in the most-spoken language in the world.
