Public Art Lincoln: Submit Your Photos
for Contest!

Frog Baby located in Hamman Rose Garden.

These gorgeous fall days are perfect for snapping photos of your favorite pieces of public art to include on Public Art Lincoln. Our only guideline is that you keep your photos family-friendly and to have fun as you experience the public art in our community.  We are seeking to capture public art in all seasons and occasions.  Including family and friends in your photo is perfectly acceptable.

Submitting is easy.  Go to http://publicart.artscene.org/  and click on Get Involved/Your Public Art Photos.

During the months of October - December we will be holding a contest with selection of our favorite photo to happen on January 15.  The winner receives a prize package that will include their winning image printed on a coffee mug
and a few other local surprises.

To our Lincoln Arts Festival Volunteers with heart!

LAC Event Coordinator Melissa Epp and two of many Lincoln Arts Festival volunteers extraordinaire!

From the bottom of our hearts, thanks to the behind the scenes volunteers that helped countless hours in preparation for this year's event.

Not only do volunteer committees help steer the festival, they are on foot for the weekend!

To you, a special thanks for those of you that "pitched that tent, hauled that bail." Your smiling and helpful faces and efforts helped to make the Lincoln Arts Festival one of the friendliest and well thought of shows in the country!

If you missed out of the fun this year, plan on joining us next year! For this year's hard working crew, we send kudos and deep appreciation.

Russ's Community Rewards Points for Lincoln Arts Council from October through December

Russ's Community Rewards is an opportunity for customers and associates to band together and create a better Lincoln.  For every dollar you spend on groceries at Russ's Market, you will receive 10 Russ's Community points.  These points can be used to stretch your wallet farther with in-store specials, or they can be used to help meet the needs of the Lincoln community.

Russ's Market has partnered with 24 local non-profits, creating offers that serve Lincoln and allowing customers to redeem points for those offers.  The Lincoln Arts Council is pleased to be among the non-profits being featured in the fall quarter catalog. LAC will be the featured organization November 26 - December 2 which means your donated points will be matched by Russ's for double the benefit that week. Save up your points and designate them for LAC!

Choose L.A.C. With Instagram Print Purchase

at Screen Ink

All summer, Screen Ink (416 South 11th St.) compiled contributions on Instagram using the hashtag: #mylnk. On September 5th, they exhibited over 100 of these images that best capture the unique beauty of our city. Prints are available to purchase in three sizes. When you purchase one of these prints, you can select one of three non-profits to benefit. The Lincoln Arts Council is pleased to be one of those chosen. First Friday sales generated $600! Says owner, Jason Davis, "We had a great time working on the project and loved seeing all of the hash tagged images rolling in. #myLNK will certainly live on past the end of this month." On Ocotber 3, Screen Ink will host a group exhibit of Food Art to benefit Community Crops.

CSArt 2014 Final Delivery during
Lincoln Arts Festival

CSArt Artists Twyla Hansen,
Katie Taylor Frisch and Heather Hanft

The third delivery and artist reception was part of the Lincoln Arts Festival on Sunday afternoon, September 28 from 2 to 4 pm. Twyla Hansen, our state poet; Katie Taylor Frisch and Heather Hanft were on hand to talk to shareholders and anyone with an interest in their projects for CSArt. The fourth art piece in the colorful Whole Foods reusable grocery bag is a linoleum print made by a student at Lincoln High School. These prints were professionally matted by David Clark of David Clark Framing in Williamsburg Village, for which we are most grateful.

Union Bank and Trust provided a great activity for festival-goers on Sunday afternoon - an Art Walk! It's just like a "cake walk," only you win art supplies instead. Our thanks to Jill Smith and her helpers for making so many kids (and adults) happy with their new supplies!

There is still an opportunity for you to be a 2014 CSArt Shareholder; crates are packed with all ten pieces of art and available from the LAC office. Just in time for Christmas giving! Contact Lori McAlister at CSArt@artscene.org or 402-434-2787.

Tesla mural on the side of the Turbine Flats building

The fall quarterly meeting features three panelists from various sectors of our business community talking about what makes a good sponsorship for their enterprise. Matthew Wegener is our site host at Turbine Flats (2124 Y. Street, Lincoln 68503) as well as one of our panelists. Joining Matthew is Tony Reiling of ArtFX and Teresa Ingram, retired from Lincoln Benefit Life (now Allstate). The group will respond to such questions as, "What makes the best sponsor/partnership opportunity for your business?" "How important are volunteer opportunities?" "What are your funding priorities?" Morrie Enders, Executive Director of the Lincoln Community Playhouse, will talk about their long-term partnership with Russ's Market for Playhouse support.

Turbine Flats Project is a nonprofit, entrepreneurial cooperative that supports and promotes Lincoln's ideas community. Matthew has offered a tour of the facility following the meeting on Thursday, October 30 from 11:45 am to 1:15 pm. Feel free to B.Y.O. lunch.
