Lincoln Arts Council 200 Club

Because you receive this newsletter, we know that you value creativity. We work hard to honor the trust you place in the Lincoln Arts Council to advocate for the arts in Lincoln.

We are seeking 200 individuals, households and businesses to be pillars of support for the financial fitness of the Lincoln Arts Council. "Many hands make light work." Coming together to adequately fund operational costs directly influences our ability to deliver results. With this initiative, we are pleased to move all current funders to member status.

Please consider a donation this summer season. Our goal: 200 donors by the end of August.

Ensuring the resources of the LAC also ensures our resiliency. Building a robust budget allows us to develop innovative approaches to service delivery, take calculated operational risks, manage unexpected funding shortfalls, and cultivate new, more reliable streams of revenue.

We appreciate your input as well as your underwriting. We look forward to conversation as much as commerce as we continue to define the role of the arts council in the City of Lincoln. Thank you for your time and thoughtful consideration of this request.

Please join the 200 Club by August 25! donate_now_org2_btn.gif

CSArt - First Delivery at Jazz in June

Artist Marc Kornbluh looks on while a delighted Nancy Gade dons the
glass pendant she received for her
 art share.

Tuesday, June 17 -- the first art delivery of CSArt 2014 at Jazz in June. It was hot and muggy in spite of the wind, but we had a good response from the brave souls who were out. All three contributing CSArtists (Marc Kornbluh, Michelle Liebgott-Osinga and Crisha Yantis) were there along with family members to "meet and greet" the shareholders who picked up their crates.

The platform worked just as it should with each shareholder getting a personal narrative for the pieces created just for them. One share had been given as a birthday gift and another as the recipient's Christmas present. I felt like Santa's little helper getting to look on while people discovered their treasures.

Thanks also to NET Radio, Hildegard Center for the Arts and Catherine Griesen for the great "bumper crop" items included in the crate; and to Stephen McAlister for the photos. Jill Smith of Union Bank and Trust provided hospitality. Trip Snyder and Paula Hansen assisted Deb Weber and Lori McAlister with set up and tear down. Great work all! IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO BE A SHAREHOLDER YOURSELF!

What better way to show you Community Supported Art or CSArt than to give you a glimpse of the great art that is commissioned through this grass-roots initiative.

You might discover something new from an established artist, like Marc Kornbluh and his glass pendant or something interesting from recent UNL grad, Crisha Yantis with her upside down people. You can marvel at the intricate detail of artist Michelle Liebgott-Osinga's needle-felted sculptures while you learn about Nebraska wildlife.

But wait, there's more! As with any good CSA, there is always something extra (our bumper crops). The first installment contained Heroes Among Us, collected essays from the Hildegard Center for the Arts' Heroes Project, a hand-made greeting card from 2013 CSArtist, Catherine Griesen and from NET Radio, a classical music CD, magnetic note pad and pencil.

Buy your 2014 Art Share now and you can take this box home today! Two more installments of art will fulfill the share with ten unique pieces of art and some new, like-minded friends.
