The ill winds of anti-Semitism never cease. Now and then they diminish but they always pick up speed again. By now you know that a week ago a story broke about flyers being handed out in East Ukraine telling Jews to register. The story was denounced by all government officials involved and the effort was blamed on radicals.
The problem is, radicals can do a lot of damage. They did in the early 1930s and by 1933, they were ensconced in office in Nazi Germany and the carnage began. Survivors of Hitler's Holocaust are suggesting that the Jews of Ukraine flee. I suspect they will not all heed the warnings though some are heading for Israel.
My own family is no stranger to this. My paternal grandparents fled the Balkans at the turn of the 20th
century just to escape the similar scenario in Russia. The Czars of Russia, just like the Fuhrer of Germany a few years later, were echoing the sentiment found in Psalm 83:4, "Come, let us wipe out the very memory of Israel's existence."
