Last September we introduced our Understanding MORE Deception Package 2 covering ten topics that are confusing and deceiving people in the church today. Prior to that, we introduced our Understanding Deception Package 1.

We now introduce Understanding More Deception Package 3 with all new titles. Consider ordering the package of 10 for $18 or order individually for $2 each.

1) The New Evangelization from Rome by Roger Oakland
2) The Dangers & Deceptions of the Martial Arts
3) Chrislam: The Blending Together of Islam and Christianity
4) So You Want to Practice Good Contemplative Prayer:       What's Wrong with That?
5) Native Spirituality & Renewal & the Emerging Church
6) Can Cultures be Redeemed: Some Things You Should Know About the Indigenous People's Movement
7) Contemplative Montacisim
8) 8 Things You Should Know About Sexually Abused Boys
9) Christians in Holland in 1941: Should We Help Save the Jews? (Obeying God or man)
10) The "Spiritual" Truth Behind Alcoholics Anonymous

Due to popular demand, Olive Tree Ministries now has in stock a number of NEW pamphlets that cover MORE of the deceptive practices that are infiltrating the church these days.  They're pamphlets, so they are quick to read (about 20 minutes) and easy and relatively inexpensive to share with others (one pamphlet for $2.00 or 10 for $18). They are 16-18 pages each.  Let me share with you what we now have in stock...

8 Things You Should Know About Sexually Abused Boys

I'm a male sexual-abuse survivor. I'm also a ritual-abuse survivor. I am rare, and belong to a company of men and boys, mostly silent and scared. So few have survived well enough to talk about it. I know I have to talk, because I DID survive, and because I see them in every group I meet, from five to seventy-years-old suffering, silent victims who are not really considered REAL victims by many, since the male species, in their minds, should be able to fend off any abuse. No matter how little they were. No matter how bad and scary it was.

So we keep mostly quiet, to avoid the humiliation of questioning, cynical eyes that seem to say, "Come on, you could have done SOMETHING to stop it!" Can you imagine the public outrage in most places nowadays if you said that to a female rape victim? But no one really defends boy and men victims. So we've stayed silent. Wouldn't you? If you're a victim, you probably do. You probably picked this booklet up with a big knot of fear in your gut, hoping no one would suspect you might be one of the one in six boys who are sexually abused.

Can Cultures Be Redeemed?  Some Things You Should Know About the Indigenous People's Movement

Indigenous People's Movement leaders teach that God has been redeeming cultures and that He placed in all cultures a way for men to have a relationship with God outside of the Gospel.

A growing trend in the evangelical church is what is referred to as "redeeming the cultures" or "cultural identification." Essentially, it is the idea that God created cultures and has no desire for anyone to leave their cultural practices but can incorporate their belief in Jesus into their already existing culture.

What is taught is that God set forth His plan of salvation through all ancient cultures and that "redemptive analogies" can be found in most, if not all, cultures.

But did God really create cultures? I do not believe He did because cultures are man-made. Webster's Dictionary defines culture as being: "the customary beliefs, social forms, and material traits of a racial, religious, or social group."

Don't believe this: Christianity, Judaism, and Islam are all part of the Abrahamic tree of faith. We all believe in the same God, and in many aspects we are all trying to accomplish the same goals.

The quote above is but one example of how a movement (and a mindset) called Chrislam is becoming increasingly commonplace in the Protestant church. This fast-growing trend, pursued in the name of finding "common ground" so we might, as a body, experience spiritual unity and effectuate a more peaceful coexistence, is a slippery slope spiraling ever downward, dictating that other religions are as valid as Christianity. When one considers the condition of the Christian church today, especially given how watered down the Gospel message has become and how other spiritual elements, not of God, are continually being interspersed with it, it really shouldn't be too much of a surprise that this now is being embraced by a growing number.

The simple truth is, Christianity has no commonality with Islam that could ever justify putting our spiritual well-being in jeopardy in this manner. The Bible says, "[F]or what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?" (2 Corinthians 6:14).

The Chrislam movement is apostasy in action, and we can expect much more of this type of compromise.

Christians In Holland in 1941: Should We Help Save the Jews?  (Obeying God or man)

Diet Eman was a young Christian woman when Hitler invaded Holland. As the Nazi war machine for an Aryan society overtook her country and the persecution of Jews became evident, Christians in Holland were compelled to ask themselves, "Should we obey the Nazi government or should we help save the Jews?"

It was no more than a few months after the occupation [of the Nazis in Holland] began that we realized there were things that simply had to be done. When we saw injustice, we all felt it; we couldn't just sit there and do nothing. But what could we do? The atrocities toward the Jews all around were beginning, and we felt it was our duty to act in some way. But it took time for us to know exactly what, when, and how we could do something.

Contemplative Monasticsm

One reading of Manning's The Signature of Jesus was not enough for me to understand The Signature of Jesus. I found it was like reading a book in a foreign language. I read many new expressions like contemplative prayer, centering prayer, centering down, paschal spirituality, the discipline of the secret, contemplative spirituality, celebrating the darkness, practicing the presence, the interior life, inner integration, yielding to the Center, spiritual masters, masters of the interior life, false self, and the Abba experience.

I also encountered many writers I had never read before, including Kasemann, Burghardt, Merton, Van Breemen, Brueggemann, Moltmann, Nouwen, Kng, Steindl-Rast, Rahner, Kierkegaard, and Camus.

I had to read the book three separate times before I was confident that I understood what Manning was saying. Reading this book led me to read a number of other books and articles by and about leading mystics/contemplatives. I learned about the heart of Manning's message -- centering prayer. I came to the conclusion that the teachings of Brennan Manning are very dangerous.

Dangers & Deceptions of the Martial Arts: And Why One Woman Walked Away from a Championship Career

This booklet's aim is to help you understand and decipher the underlying dangers and deceptions of the martial arts. When Tonie first walked into a karate school in 1972, she thought she'd found the answer to her years of childhood sexual abuse, her feelings of failure, and her abusive marriage: Train to fight. Fight to win.

At first, she just wanted to defend herself. But soon it turned into something much more. As she turned herself into a fighting machine and she was on top for the first time in her life.

In her meteoric career, Tonie Harris won 58 trophies in six years, held Karate Illustrated's title of Top Female Karateka in the Pacific Northwest for seven years, and rose to national status. She was in Who's Who, Karate Illustrated, Fighting Women News, and Black Belt Magazine. A 1983 book on women in the martial arts devotes a whole chapter to Tonie as one of the eight most accomplished women martial artists of the time. She was sensei-Master.

But trying to solve her problems with karate left a wake of divorce and broken relationships, six abortions, the blight of lesbianism, and four deeply troubled children.

She is now a Christian sounding a warning. The martial arts didn't arise out of a spiritual vacuum. They developed over many centuries, spreading through and acclimating to China, Japan, Korea, Southeast Asia, and the Pacific. In each culture, they were powerfully shaped by basic premises of Eastern religious thought: Confucianism, Taoism, Shintoism, Hinduism, animism, shamanism, and Zen Buddhism; and many of their techniques and concepts of energy and life still manifest those influences.

Native Spirituality "Renewal" & The Emerging Church

While those practicing Native Spirituality may believe they are practicing a completely unique form of spirituality, originating with them, they couldn't be further from the truth. Native Spirituality is just one part of a vast movement that is creating a paradigm shift in our present-day culture away from biblical Christianity and replacing it with an all-inclusive inter-spiritual global religion that relies heavily upon mystical practices. The results will create a "Christianity" that has no resemblance to biblical Christianity whatsoever.

As part of this massive global shift, many Native American or First Nations' tribes are exploring the renewal of their ancient spiritual traditions and re-instituting ancestral and mystical practices. Natives involving themselves in this pursuit see this as an opportunity to bring recognition to the forgotten and once persecuted Native American religion. They fail to realize that they are actually participating in a mass deception spreading throughout the world in the days prior to Christ's return.

So You Want to Practice "Good" Contemplative Prayer: What's Wrong with That?

How about if we call a spade a spade? I'm speaking of contemplative prayer. If you've been using the term as the new way to describe your own practice of getting alone with God, being quiet, and praying silently -- well, you haven't been doing contemplative prayer (also called centering prayer, breath prayer, and Jesus' prayer).

It's easy to misunderstand. Popular writers and teachers portray contemplative prayer in vague language that seems "almost intentionally inaccessible."

About seven years ago, I began to seriously investigate its true nature. Having some knowledge of Eastern religions and the occult, I soon saw red flags. I found that contemplative prayer is neither contemplative (thinking deeply) nor prayer (talking to God). Instead, it involves a mantra (a word or phrase repeated for ten to twenty minutes) as the means for erasing thoughts.

I would have voted for the practice not to be called contemplative prayer! But alas, it's too late. That term and its meaning have been established for centuries.

The "Spiritual" Truth Behind Alcoholics Anonymous

Christians in Alcoholics Anonymous may not see it this way, but in their participation of A.A., they are standing in agreement with a belief system that lifts up strange gods. In Alcoholics Anonymous, all gods are considered equal and are called "the higher power," thus relegating Christ our King to commonality as if He were simply one nameless deity among many.

Nearly eighty years after the founding of A.A. this salad-bar approach -- design your own god -- has seemingly become a cultural norm. "Spiritual" is in. "Religion" is out. Many Americans now refer to their god as a "higher power." A.A.'s twelve-step program (along with cultural acceptance of anti-biblical meditative practices) have literally changed the spiritual direction of the country.

Obviously, we are not separating from unbelievers as the Bible commands.

The New Evangelization From Rome -- Or Finding The True Jesus Christ

The New Evangelization is a missionary effort of the Catholic Church to bring the "Lost Brethren" (Protestants) back into the "fold." Most of this effort is aimed at stirring up interest in the Eucharist.

This New Evangelization program is directly linked to the Eucharistic Christ.

The Catholic program is committed to "Our Lady of Guadalupe" (Mary). Remember, Paul warned the Corinthians about "another spirit" that was associated with "another gospel" and "another Jesus."  Jesus warned His disciples about those who say, see he is here or he is there as if physically present on the earth. According to the Gospel, He is physically present seated at the right Hand of the Father until His Second Coming, and through His Spirit dwells in the hearts of every true believer. He cannot be made any more present than He already is. By contrast, the Catholic "Gospel" makes Jesus physically present at every mass around the world.
