Message From Our President

This upcoming school year brings so much excitement and enormous blessings as we continue to STAY SERRASTRONG!

I want to first graciously thank each of you for choosing St. Junipero Serra Catholic School not only to educate your children in a challenging and well-developed curricular program, but also your choice of St. Junipero Serra Catholic School provides for each family a faith-filled community dedicated to the teachings of Jesus Christ and to the family values and love we all hold so dear to our hearts. Our vibrant faith community along with the success of our academic programs is a testament to the faculty, administration, support staff, and parents of our school.
We are honored to officially welcome to St. Junipero Serra Catholic School the many new families who are joining our faith-filled, energetic and vibrant community. To all families, it is truly a privilege for all of our staff to serve and partner with you to educate your child in a Catholic environment dedicated to the spiritual and academic success of each child.

HOPE in the Lord

Virtues for 2016-17
Above is our school theme for 2016-17 along with our new logo. We are continuing with our SerraStrong theme as part of each year. We are strong in faith, love, hope, determination, and gratitude. As we continue to unite as a strong faith-filled community dedicated to educating students for tomorrow, we remember how truly blessed we are each and every day. Our virtues of HOPE AND CHARITY this year will strengthen our community to continue to follow our motto of "Siempre Adelante" while we show sincere gratitude for our blessings by showing charity and generosity to everyone we meet. Moving forward needs us to continue to have the HOPE and deep FAITH that God is with us every step of the way, that our steps are guided by Jesus' teachings and that our actions reflect the many gifts of the Holy Spirit. We are as a community and individually abundantly blessed; we are challenged to share with others and be gracious and merciful to everyone we meet. We are SERRASTRONG IN HOPE, FAITH, AND LOVE!

You will also notice our new logo above. We have incorporated the key elements of our logo: San Damiano Cross, mountains, dove, core school colors and our new name in an updated format. We are so excited to introduce this to you and you will see it everywhere beginning on Business Day!

Contained in this e-mail you will find a wealth of information to prepare you not only for Business Day 2016 but for all the many upcoming events that will be taking place here at St. Junipero Serra Catholic School. Your PTO has worked so hard to prepare you for Business Day and we look forward to seeing you there. We are so excited with the updates we have made to the Business Day procedures. It will be a fun time for everyone.
DENNIS Uniform
Although we are in a two-year transition, DENNIS Uniform has prepared their store for our first purchases. They have been supportive and are ready for our families.

Depending on grade levels, you may want to at least buy a new polo, skort, pair of pants or shorts from DENNIS to include in your child's current uniform wardrobe. As a reminder, DENNIS Uniform is not on site for Business Day, instead they are offering two sale days at their Mission Viejo store. Please see the article below.
Staff Announcements - August 4, 2016
We are so excited about the faculty and staff that will work with our students and families this 2016-17 school year. We have some faculty and staff who have moved positions, and we have some new staff to welcome. Please look for a formal Constant Contact from me, Mrs. Trudell, on Thursday, August 4 dedicated solely to introducing you to new staff and announcing staff changes. I respectfully ask that you await that e-mail for the most accurate information.
Update on Phase 4 Construction
On July 6, the planning commission of Rancho Santa Margarita had approved our Chapel, STEAM and Administration Wing project. They were truly supportive and overall energized about this Phase for St. Serra. We are well on our way.

If you drive by you will notice that the modular buildings are now gone. We are currently in the construction document phase with groundbreaking set for Sunday, December 4 and trucks rolling in March 2017. There will be a formal, regular communication to all families updating you on the progress of the project as well as how it will impact day-to-day life here at St. Junipero Serra Catholic School. We will utilize media and our new website for this communication tool and will announce this format to you in the fall.

Thank you for all of your generosity in your support of our Miracle Blossoms Campaign and all other fundraising to help make this dream a reality. You are making a difference!

New Website Coming Soon!
We will be launching our new website at the beginning of the school year. Please look for a special announcement when we launch. This new site will be reflective of who we are as SERRASTRONG...SIEMPRE ADELANTE, easy to use, and full of an abundance of information.

God is Good...All the Time.

Christ's Blessings,

Mrs. Angeline Trudell

Placement scores were carefully calculated and reviewed by a team consisting of the principals, Mrs. Dina Leland, our Assistant Principal for Curriculum and Instruction, the school psychologists, Dr. Quigley and Mrs. Bielkevicius, your child's current and this upcoming year's teachers. Important News from the Health Room

The law prohibits schools from unconditionally admitting students without the required immunizations. All new and current students must show documentation to the Health Room of all updated booster shots, including the Tdap vaccine (whooping cough). If this documentation is not received before Business Day, your child will not be assigned a teacher/homeroom teacher and he or she will not be able to begin school until all of the immunizations are complete.
If you have any questions, please call Mary Hogan at 546-8705.

2016 Memorial Ornament

Memorial ornament order forms may be turned in at Business Day or prior to September 12 which will guarantee you will receive them in time for the Memorial Mass.

Previous St. Serra families, as a reminder, order forms were sent home in your Weekly Envelope in May and are also available online. Please remember that one form must be filled out for each ornament ordered, unless you would like them to be identical. Also, if you would like to hang a prior year ornament on the tree, we will instruct you when to do so in a future communication. Please note you will be responsible for removing those you hang as well.

New Families, each year St. Serra offers the Memorial Ornament program, where ornaments may be purchased in memory of your loved ones. The ornament is designed by a 7th-grade St. Serra student.  All ornaments will be placed on the Tree of Remembrance, located in the entryway of the school office, and will be blessed during the Memorial Mass on November 1st.
The ornaments will remain on the Tree of Remembrance for the entire month of November.  All 2016 ornaments will be sent home with your student prior to Christmas break.

Stop by the Advancement table at Business Day to see the sample and turn in your order form. CLICK HERE to print your order form now.
