Annual Report 2013

Our 2013 annual report recognizes three of the outstanding organizations we have served this year:

These stories exemplify the extraordinary impact made by leading nonprofit organizations around the world. While we share the stories of three, we celebrate the work of the 60-plus organizations we were privileged to partner with in 2013 and the more than 500 organizations we have served over the past decade.

This year, our annual report is unique in that we announce our decision to join Raffa PC, a Washington, DC consulting company dedicated to serving nonprofits in order to do more good in the world. This change takes effect this month and is intended to advance both the long-term sustainability of our work and our own succession plan.

By TransitionGuides joining Raffa PC, we keep intact our top leadership team (Tom Adams and Karen Schuler) and our staff and consulting team. We will continue to lead the way in CEO and senior executive search & transition and sustainability & succession planning for nonprofits.

In addition, we will be able to offer our clients a broader range of services drawing from accounting, auditing, human resources, and technology solutions of Raffa PC. As part of Raffa, together we will be crafting a greater force for good in the world.

Stay tuned for more news about this exciting development! Our next enewsletter will arrive directly from Raffa PC! Visit www.raffa.com to learn more about the firm's unique capacity to serve the nonprofit sector!

Succession Planning for a Sustainable Future

YMCA of the USAYMCA

Everyone knows a little something about the YMCA. But you may not know about the YMCA of the USA, the national office based in Chicago with staff located in 44 states. YMCA of the USA's 350 staff members serve as a resource for independent local YMCAs all over the country. This national team develops curricula, training programs and other resources that may be needed by YMCAs.

Leading to End Hunger

Maryland Food Bank  MFB

Deborah Flateman came to the Maryland Food Bank six years ago to fill some big shoes-those of a well-respected founder who'd led the organization for 28 years.  In the years she's led the organization as President and CEO, Maryland Food Bank has more than tripled the number of meals it distributes annually, from 10 million to almost 35 million. It has grown from serving primarily Baltimore to serving all but two counties in the entire state. Today the organization is rethinking its goals and methods for the future.

Pursuit of Excellence in Youth and Family Services
Delta Community Supports  DCS

For Dave Wyher, founder, President, and CEO of Delta Community Supports, excellence in service is all about a culture created and nurtured by staff. "From the very beginning, we decided we would serve people others wouldn't or couldn't due to the complexity of their issues. We've done that with distinction for a long period of time, and today we are the region's go-to organization for children with difficult issues. Our success rides entirely on the great work of our staff. They've embraced a culture of performance improvement that drives them to provide excellent care."
