 In a May blog post about SEO myths, Bing flat out said, "You want links to surprise you. You should never know in advance a link is coming, or where it's coming from. If you do, that's the wrong path. Links are part of the bigger picture. You want them, but you want them to be natural." To me, that means that Bing, much like Google, only wants site owners to earn links naturally. That means you don't ask for it, you don't build it, you don't trade for it, you don't pay for it (even if it's legitimate, like a partnership); you have no hand in creating it.
