One of the most important places to market your business today is via social media. No matter who your target audience members are, there's a good chance that they are using social media to some extent and most people are logging into at least one social account on a daily basis.There's evidence that the younger generation may be moving away from Facebook but let's face it, it's still the social media powerhouse for now.  

In a May blog post about SEO myths, Bing flat out said, "You want links to surprise you. You should never know in advance a link is coming, or where it's coming from. If you do, that's the wrong path. Links are part of the bigger picture. You want them, but you want them to be natural." To me, that means that Bing, much like Google, only wants site owners to earn links naturally. That means you don't ask for it, you don't build it, you don't trade for it, you don't pay for it (even if it's legitimate, like a partnership); you have no hand in creating it.  

There are many reasons to be creating content on behalf of your business. Content informs your target audience and establishes your business as a thought leader in the industry which generates trust. This is the top goal of content, but another goal of content should be to get it shared. Content that is shared in the form of links on other web pages or within social media helps to improve your SEO efforts. If you have a respectable social media following but notice that your content is getting very few shares, or maybe even no shares, you might be doing something wrong.
