Celebrate Earth Day 2014
Even though we believe every day should be Earth Day, the holiday on April 22nd is an opportunity for us to come together, celebrate, learn and inspire each other to reduce our impact on the environment all year long. We're dedicated to helping our readers and supporters live more sustainable lives in order to protect our planet, and thank you for joining us. In addition to these suggestions for ways to celebrate Earth Day in your home and personal life, there are several events happening throughout Maine for you and your family to enjoy.
And we're happy to announce our Annual Earth Day Scavenger Hunt! Photograph examples of eco-items from our list that you find around your home and community, post your pictures to The SunriseGuide Facebook page throughout April, and you could win a 4x4 raised cedar bed from Roots, Coops & More! Here are the full instructions and the list of eco-items you're looking for.

Cycling in (and across!) Maine
While there are some hardcore Mainers who bike outside year-round; for the rest of us, spring is the time to tune-up our bicycles, dust off our helmets, and get our cycling on! If you're feeling a little rusty after this long winter, we have all the info you need at TheSunriseGuide.com; including tips for bike commuting, instructions for changing a bike tire, suggestions for family-friendly bike rides in Maine, ways to map your bike route, and more.
And 2014 is a particularly special year for cycling, because this June marks the 30th Anniversary of the American Lung Association's Trek Across Maine. If you've never experienced this annual event, you can read this personal account from someone who's participated in the Trek since year one and learn why almost 2,000 cyclists come from all around the country to ride across Maine.
