New Rules Help Get Flame Retardants Out of Furniture
Starting this month, a new national standard for flame retardants takes effect and manufacturers will no longer be required to treat upholstered furniture with the chemicals. Furniture can now be labeled as treated or not, to assist customers seeking items that are free of the chemicals. Learn more about the new standard. Maine-based Endicott Home has long been leader in providing furniture without flame retardants. They were the only sofa-makers to voluntarily remove the chemicals before the laws were changed, and they're still the only company that offers zero flame retardants in their standard construction. |
Plants that Clean the Air
Did you know that houseplants are natural air purifiers? Not only do they improve the aesthetics of your home, but they also clean the air of common toxins like benzene, carbon monoxide, formaldehyde, and tobacco smoke. Learn which houseplants are the best for air purifying here. |
The Many Benefits of Yoga
The winter months can make exercising outdoors more challenging, making it a perfect time to develop an indoor exercise practice. Few forms of exercise provide as many benefits as yoga. Not only does it improve posture, flexibility, and joint health, but it also builds muscles and burns calories, decreases body fat and body pain, and supports the cardiovascular, neurological and immune systems...just about every bodily function is better with yoga. To learn about these benefits and many more, click here. If you are interested in relaxing and rejuvenating after the busy holiday season, restorative yoga might be just the ticket. And if you're looking for a way to keep your kids active during these cold days, there are even yoga classes for children of all ages!
