The Truth About the Cosmetics Industry
While many consumers believe that all cosmetics on the market have been tested and deemed safe, this is unfortunately not true. Because of a law that dates back to 1938, the cosmetic manufacturers regulate themselves; and the 70,000+ cosmetic products sold today (many of which contain ingredients known to be harmful) are tested and determined to be safe by the companies that make the products. There are some basic tips you can follow to protect you and your family from harmful chemicals in these products. Click here to learn more. |
Home Efficiency Rebates & Incentives
Efficiency Maine is offering a suite of incentives to help Maine homeowners reduce heating costs and improve energy efficiency. Qualified homeowners can receive up to $1,500 toward the cost of qualifying energy upgrades to a home's insulation or heating system. Homeowners may work with their contractor to develop a custom energy-saving project or select from a menu of eligible measures. Learn more. They are also offering $500 rebates for residential electric Heat Pumps that are installed between now and June 30, 2014. Click here for more details. (And if you'd like to learn more about how heat pumps save green while treading a little more lightly on our planet, Efficiency Maine has put together this great informative video.)
