| Paul Jeffrey
Missionary, Photojournalist, and Senior Correspondent for response
|
WNCC UMW Annual MeetingSeptember 11-13, 2015 Lake Junaluska, NC Theme: "Images of Mission"
On-Line Registration: Thru August 31...$15 (on-site $25) This is an Annual Meeting you will NOT WANT TO MISS! We consider it a privilege to have Paul Jeffrey with us as our special guest speaker for the weekend. You will experience the many "images" of Paul as a writer, photographer, elder and response magazine senior correspondent who travels the world covering our mission projects.
We will welcome Kathy McNeil again as she shares her musical talents as pianist, organist and music director. Kathy invites you to the Friday night and Saturday 1PM practices for singing in the Sunday choir.
Registration begins at 1PM on Friday in Harrell Center Auditorium where you can pick up your on line registration badge, program materials, visit the program resource area and view displays. Complimentary tote bags will be provided by the WNCC Fishin' Hole. Gathering for opening worship begins on Friday evening at 6:45PM. At Annual meeting we review 2014 events and activities of the Districts and Conference and get a glimpse of 2016 as we elect officers ( See report from the Committee on Nominations). The Saturday morning session begins with the mandatory business session, followed by the focus on our mission including our pledge service, our Conference Love Offering, special mission guests and the mission address. Our missionaries, deaconesses, and special guests are honored during lunch.
Saturday afternoon in Stuart you will be able to hear Paul Jeffrey talk about photography as it relates to mission. Then Betty Letzig and Barbara Campbell will lead a workshop on planned giving.
The evening session will include installation of officers, recognition of outgoing officers and the President's Address by Tonya Lanier.
You are encouraged to purchase Gift to Mission / Gift in Memory cards in Program Resources and present them for dedication on Sunday morning. Our other hands-on mission project is UMCOR Heath Kits. Just a reminder, please do not put the $2/per kit inside the box or bag with your kits. Tape it to the outside or just hand it to the volunteers at the collection site in front of the Terrace Hotel.
On our website you will find the 2-page Annual Meeting flyer highlighting the program and information for registering online for the meeting as well as room reservations. Just remember to register on line for Annual Meeting ($15) AND contact Lake Junaluska at 1-800-222-4930 for your room! Those who cannot pre-register will be able to register on site for $25. Your registration fees help offset expenses and commuter fees we pay to the Lake for those who do not stay at Lake properties.
Late Night will be "Snapshots of our Districts." It always is a time to relax and have a little fun!
Sunday morning begins with either Singing in the Chapel with Darlene Gardner and Florence Greene or Sunday school with Rev. Alec Alvord, then our final worship service which includes a Memorial Service, Communion and dedication of the Gift Cards.
Throughout the weekend the ladies of Metro District, led by President Michelene Mathews, will serve as our hostesses.
We look forward to seeing you as we celebrate 146 years in mission. Let's put a "picture" on what we do!
Julia Willis Conference Vice President and Chair of Program Committee
