Classics Eagles e-Newsletter Volume 4, Issue 12 (10/20/16)
Dear Classics Eagles Families:

Has this been the nicest fall weather you can ever remember? It makes soccer all the more enjoyable! Our younger teams are wrapping up the fall season, and our high school aged teams are about to get going! Wherever your player is in this year of club soccer, we hope your player is seeing growth in all aspects of soccer.

Please read articles below about two important items. One is about player feedback from coaches, and one is about the Classics Eagles CARES Scholarship.

Have a great week of soccer!  For both the latest news and past newsletters, please don't forget to the check out the Classics Eagles web site HERE, and The Back of the Net archives HERE

The Classics Eagles Leadership Team
Katie Exline receives scholarship at Jackson High School
Classics Eagles CARES Scholarship

Any high school senior who has played at least two years with the Classics Eagles at some time is eligible to apply for the Classics Eagles CARES Scholarship, which would go toward the player's college tuition. The scholarship is administered by the Delaware County Foundation, which also chooses the scholarship recipient. CARES stands for:

C = Community
A = Action
R = Responsibility
E = Excellence
S = Service

The idea is to award the scholarship to the applicant who best exemplifies the Classics Eagles Way in life away from the soccer field.

Our first scholarship was awarded in May of 2016, to Katie Exline, who traveled all the way from Jackson, Ohio to training sessions and games for the Classics Eagles. In high school, Katie excelled on the field, in the classroom and in serving others.  She is now in her first year at Otterbein University where she competes on the Women's Soccer Team.

Applicants can apply for the scholarship after January 1. We will give information about how to apply when the application becomes available. We wanted to begin getting the word out about the scholarship now so Classics Eagles players would be aware of the opportunity!
Target Competencies Feedback

The Players (and parents of players) in the Youth Development, Premier Development and Elite Development Academies will soon be receiving player feedback forms from coaches which will describe where the coach sees the player in his or her progression in performing age appropriate target competencies.

The purpose of the feedback is to assist in the ongoing development of the player. The feedback is in no way meant as a report card, grading the player, or used as a means of evaluation for future team placement. The feedback is intended to, as best as possible, describe how the player is performing skills which have been identified as the target competencies.  Classics Eagles has committed to helping players master these target competencies as they progress through the age level academies. It is hoped that the feedback will be both encouraging and motivating.

SuperKick Skills Programs For Classics Eagles Families

DON'T MISS OUT!
Registration closes OCTOBER 28TH for SuperKick's 4v4 Winter Youth League
SuperKick's 4v4 Winter Youth Skill Development League begins in November. Games are played with a low bounce futsal ball to encourage players to keep play on the ground. This places emphasis on foot skills in a fast paced game environment. Small sided games allow players to constantly be involved in the game and get more touches on the ball, which is ideal for player development. U8 to U14 age group divisions offered. Learn more and register your team HERE today!

National Physical Therapy Month

Each October, the medical community comes together to recognize National Physical Therapy Month. This year the American Physical Therapy Association has launched a new campaign, #ChoosePT, which promotes physical therapy as a safe, alternative to opioid use for pain management. To learn more about the benefits of physical therapy over opioids, click HERE

Oftentimes, patients do not select physical therapy as a part of their treatment plan, because they do not have a broad knowledge of what physical therapists do or how therapy can play a pivotal role in their recovery.

In order to become a physical therapist, students must complete a rigorous curriculum which combines in classroom coursework with countless hours spent in the clinic to have a complete understanding of how to diagnose, treat and prevent conditions that limit the body's functionality.  All physical therapists are required to receive a master's degree, and now nearly 75% of new PT graduates hold a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. Once they graduate, physical therapists go on to  practice in a variety of settings including hospitals, private practices, outpatient clinics, schools and sports facilities and see patients of all ages ranging from children to the elderly.
