The cool, wet spring we have had does have a silver lining. It may make us frustrated, but it is really the ideal planting weather for trees, shrubs, fruit trees, perennials, and annuals.

The nursery, perennial area, and greenhouses are overflowing with beautiful trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals, and vegetables. The selection is unbelievable.

The beautiful planters and hanging baskets will add instant color to your outdoor living area, just in time for your holiday entertaining.

If you haven't already done so, fertilize all of your trees and shrubs growing in your landscape with a slow release fertilizer, such as Ferti-lome Tree and Shrub Food.

The secret to a great vegetable garden is great soil. Make sure your vegetable beds are ready for spring planting by adding organic material, such as Glacier Gold Compost and soil pep to keep your clay soil loose and your sandy soil moist. Apply soil activator to feed the soil, improve seed germination and increase the vitamin content of your vegetables. If you use manure, it is best to add it in the fall and till it in. We often see burning when manure is added in the spring.
