Greetings!
With the warm weather, the plants in the landscape are growing quickly. Unfortunately the weeds are growing even faster. Be sure to keep them under control and don't let them go to seed. Be sure to use the proper herbicide for the problem you are trying to solve. The staff at Pinehurst is here to help you, whether you have grass growing in your iris or flower bed, morning glory in your grass, or weeds in your garden.
Be sure to try the Down Under Plant Stands. I use them under all the pots on my deck and front porch. They eliminate the ugly water stains you get when watering planters on wood and concrete.
As we have been landscaping over the last week, we have seen several grubs in the lawns. Now is the time to use Grub Free Zone, before they get the best of your lawn.
All you ladies, be sure to call your girlfriends and plan to attend Ladies Night, June 27th from 6 pm to 8 pm. It promises to be a really fun event.
Happy gardening!

Black Lace Elderberry
BLACK LACE is a stunning development in Elderberry breeding, also know as Sambucus. Intense purple black foliage is finely cut, giving it an effect similar to that of Japanese maple. Indeed, some designers are using it in place of the more sensitive acer varieties since BLACK LACE is extremely durable and adaptable. Creamy pink flowers in spring contrast nicely with the dark leaves. They are followed by blackish red fall berries which can be harvested for making elderberry wine and jam, or left on the plant to attract birds and other wildlife. BLACK LACE is very cold hardy and easy to grow, and adaptable to most sites. Full sun is needed for the best color. It can be used as a dramatic accent plant, planted en masse for a trouble free high hedge, or incorporated into the mixed or perennial border. Left alone it will reach up to 8 feet in height, but BLACK LACE can also be pruned back each year to fit into more formal settings.
This beautiful plant is blooming now in the landscape at Pinehurst. Get yours while the supply lasts!

The perennial bed is always changing throughout the seasons.
New this Year!
Everlast Burgundy Blush and Lilac Dianthus
Flushes early in the Spring, blooms late into Summer, and flushes again in Autumn - lots of flowers in each season. You will experience more days of color than with any other Dianthus in your garden. Continuous flowering/reblooming garden Dianthus is very fragrant. Zone 4, cold-hardy plants will not die in heat. Requires modest watering. Grows in the sun.
Veronica
Red Fox
A dimunitive form of veronica, 'Red Fox' is a good selection for small spaces or the front of the border. The bright fuchsia-pink flower spikes appear over a long time, in excess of five weeks, beginning in midsummer. Butterflies love to drink their sweet nectar. This plant is deer resistant.
In the perennial department at Pinehurst, you will be able to choose from a full line of perennials ranging from full sun to shade favorites, butterfly attractants, deer resistant varieties, great groundcovers and beautiful long bloomers. We encourage you to stroll through, smell and enjoy our time-tested favorites and introduce yourself to the newest varieties for your home.

Save Your Deck, Patio, and Porch

This new, easy-to-use product eliminates the staining problems that potted plants can cause. Moisture that accumulates under pots, from condensation or overfilling the tray, is what causes the rot and staining. The Down Under Plant StandŽ lifts pots allowing airflow underneath to evaporate this moisture - eliminating the damage caused to carpets, wooden floors, decks and patios.
Great for Outdoors! It protects decks and patios from stains and rot while stopping the build-up of dirt and insects, and reduces costly maintenance.
The diameter of The Down Under Plant StandŽ can be reduced by simply snapping or cutting off the ends of its supporting arms. When placed under a pot, it becomes virtually invisible and gives the illusion that the pot is still sitting on the deck or floor.
Visit the Garden Center at Pinehurst for all your container gardening needs.
