Th e deadline to submit a proposal to present at the Association of Math Teacher Educators' (AMTE) next Annual Conference is Sunday, May 15. Information about the submission process can be found on the AMTE website. The conference will be held February 9-11, 2017, in Orlando.

As we continue our work around shifting the conversation from an emphasis on "standards and assessments" to making mathematics meaningful, relevant, and accessible for each and every student, I would like to invite you to join me in a conversation around "How might we" make mathematics more meaningful, relevant, and accessible for ALL students? As you think of your role and the work you do to support mathematics teachers, take a moment to reflect on how you interpret the three key words: meaningful, relevant, and accessible. How do you see this playing out in the teachers you work with, the classes you visit, the students, and the conversations you have with others? What opportunities exist to move our work further in this area? How might NCSM better support you in this work? Nominations for 2017 NCSM Positions
Make a difference in NCSM and mathematics education.
NCSM Board nominations remain open until midnight on Sunday, May 15!
Consider running for an open Board position or nominating someone for a position.
The four important open 2017 Board positions are:
Second Vice President-serves as the 2017 NCSM Annual Conference Volunteer Management & Recruitment Chair, and
serves as the 2018 NCSM Annual Conference Program Chair, Washington, D.C.
3 Regional Directors-they work with and serve in the following regions:
- Regional Director, Central 2 (Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin)
- Regional Director, Eastern 2 (Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia)
- Regional Director, Western 2 (California, Far West: American Samoa, Federated States (Guam, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Northern Mariana Island, Palau Islands), Hawaii, Military AP: AFO/APO, Oregon, Washington).
Please ask your nominee if he or she is willing to run for office.

NCSM Annual Conference: Call for Proposals
The NCSM 49th Annual Conference will be held in San Antonio, Texas (April 3-5, 2017). Submit a proposal to share your expertise with your mathematics education colleagues.
The deadline to submit proposals is June 1st!
Ever wanted to get more involved with NCSM? Now is your chance! We are looking for program proposal reviewers and potential committee members. If you are interested, we encourage you to signup. Please fill out the volunteer form at the link below by May 20th.
