KU professors Alice Bean (Physics) and Susan Twombly (Higher Education) recently published an article in the CUR Quarterly about their experience with an NSF-sponsored grant that enabled undergraduate students to do research abroad.  Be sure to check it out!

Call for Student Recommendations for Mentor Awards
Students: has a research mentor made a huge difference in your undergraduate research experience?  Then recommend that person for one of our Center's mentor awards (we have one award for faculty members, and one award for grad students or staff), which will be given out at the Undergraduate Research Symposium on April 23, 2016.

The deadline for students to recommend a mentor is February 29, so take five minutes to do it today!

Changes in KU Undergraduate Journals

Two changes are happening with undergraduate publishing opportunities on KU's campus:

1. The Center for Undergraduate Research will no longer be publishing the campus-wide Journal of Undergraduate Research.  Old issues will continue to be available through KU Scholarworks.

2. There is a new, student-run journal on campus: the Undergraduate Research Journal for the Humanities. They are currently taking submissions for their inaugural issue, due February 26.

Other opportunities for publication can be found on our website.

Graduate Research Consultant Classes for Spring
We have 11 exciting classes this spring that will be assisted by Graduate Research Consultants (GRCs), whose job will be to support undergraduates as they pursue research and creative projects as part of a class.  Applications for Fall 2016 will be open over the summer, with a due date of July 15.
