Keith Augustus Burton, Ph.D., '87, director of Oakwood University's Center for Adventist Muslim Relations (CAMROU) recently participated in workshops at the 60th General Conference session in San Antonio, Texas.
The first presentation was to the Adventist Chaplain's World Congress on July 1, 2015, where Burton presented "Meaningful Ministry with Muslims," which included practical advice for reaching out to Muslim students on Adventist and secular university campuses.
The second presentation on July 10 was delivered to the Ethiopian Adventist College Alumni Association. Faced with serious challenges in recent years, Ethiopian Adventist College is prayerfully working towards recovery. Burton shared specific ways in which the institution could operate effectively in its current geographical location which has a heavy Muslim and Orthodox constituency. His presentation, "Ehad, Tewahedo, Tawhid: Ethiopian Adventist College and the Power of One," focused on how the religious history of Ethiopia can help to enhance the curriculum and create an inclusive academic environment.
